I understand where she was coming from but my mother saying "because you are autistic and struggle with your hair maintenance I wish you had been born with straight hair" feels kind of insane. That's not what I wish I just wish you'd taught me how to deal with my hair in a gentler and kinder way when I was a kid so I didn't associate taking care of my hair with screaming and crying because brushing my hair hurt so badly and no alternate solutions were ever offered because everyone thought I should just push through because my autism was still undiagnosed and you used to be a conservative Christian so you thought that unless children have something Specifically Different there's no reason to make changes to the traditional formula. I like my curly hair a lot and I'm sorry I don't take better care of it but no one ever taught me how to and every time you've tried to fix that it's impossible for me to focus because I'm in fight or flight mode because of the fucking trauma
Art shouldn't be effortlessly consumable and convenient. I want to feel things and confront my inner self and come to earth-shattering realizations.
I want to be affected by the creations of other human beings. Do not serve it to me on a silver platter, do not cut it for me. Allow me to dig it up and chew it myself. Do not tell me how it tastes. I will decide that for myself. I want to think, goddammit.
I feel so guilty every time I “don't spend enough time on creative stuff”, no matter what I did throughout the day. I'm also worried that I'll just forget that I like drawing and writing, which has happened multiple times. it actually happens all the time with all my hobbies. god it takes me so much fucking energy to convince myself to do my hobbies that bring me happiness 🫠

Monster Roadtrip: "Getting to the End of The Road DLC is going to take a lot of patience & time consuming. Make sure you when you get to the caves you go 'Spelunking' ;)"
My dumbass: "Oh, that means I just have to keep on resetting the game until I get the caves & play from there!"
Me, discovering what I needed to actually do this whole time: "Oh... Oh ffs."
