2. 18.8 Mile Out-And-Back With 3,000+ Feet Elevation Gain/Loss Behind On Maintenance At A Destination National Park

we started our hike at 2AM and hit the summit after a few hours just in time to watch the sunrise 🌄 🫶 overall hike took us 4.4 hours

Like others have mentioned, the first half mile is overgrown so it’s basically bushwhacking, then it’s a pretty boring 3 mile slog through mosquito clouds so thick that I almost gave up and turned back, the approach is a steep scree slope going off a cliff so not for the faint of heart! there’s still some snow on parts of the trail but I was fine without spikes. cool view at summit. great solitude, reminds me of being a kid exploring beautiful places lost to time, highly recommend.

Got a little in over our heads with this one! Haha! Patches of the trail were difficult to distinguish, especially the boulder field uphill portion, had to backtrack a few times, so be careful! We started at 6:30 in the morning but between the getting lost and our slow patooties and our phones dying and having a kind solo hiker help us out at the end, we finished after sundown lol. Shoutout to Josie for being a trooper! Gorgeous hike! Blessed.
