dick and kory have been hooking up. kory is still emotionally involved more than she wants to admit but dick is doing what he did in the 90s and just wanting intimacy without commitment when all she wants is someone who will actually love her and prioritize her. she gets pregnant with mar'i. dick won't even know kory's pregnant for ages until she starts like noticeably showing.

kory's regressed to being a naive optimist in love how she was in the 80s, and asking donna for help with how to get dick to finally realize that kory matters to him. and so donna dusts off her romcoms and together they try to figure this out.

but all the while, kory and donna are doing all of these fun romcom adventures, setting the stage for dick -- and he just never shows. donna ends up being the only one there, occasionally joined by all of their other friends (who think dick is being an asshole and are not telling him that there's a whole plot afoot). and donna and kory just keep ending up together in these deeply romantic situations with soft lighting and sensual clothes.

and eventually one thing leads to another and donna realizes she has feelings for kory and quietly swallows them down but not quite hard enough, because kory is starting to pick up on it, and she doesn't know whether to go for dick or donna anymore, but donna doesn't want to put her in that position and gently tucks her hair behind her ears and kisses her forehead and tells her that no matter what, donna just wants her to be with someone who loves her. and kory's heart skips a whole beat at that. and it's obvious who she's really in love with, and who's really been there for her, the friend and lover that she actually wants.

and after that kory's starting to show, and dick finally realizes that it's is, but he doesn't give a love confession in time for kory to really believe that it's because he loves HER and not just because he wants to create a family together. and so when he finally comes in late with a halfhearted family-oriented love confession, kory rejects him. and then she goes to find donna. and then they fall in love. xoxo.
