Not really an ask but more venting about saltdom. I hope this okay.

I'm not the biggest fan of Lukanette but because my favorite authors from other fandom ship them so still I consume fan works of them because I really like their writing style. But lately many lukanette fics are full of Adrien Salt even after I excluded it. Some of them even being tagged as Lukadrienette but the fic bashing Adrien for betraying lukanette for Lila like wtf.

Now even my fav authors jump on salt bandwagon and saying that the only reason Adrinette are together is because Adrien is creator pet and need to get the girl.

Like bruh, the reason Marinette not ending up with Luka is because the creator can't decide to write her as Normal Girl™ (Everyman) or Talented Girlboss (Genius Knight), and whether or not to pair her with the wild manic pixie dream girl (emphasis on pixie because Maribug sure as hell doesn't see Chat as something more than magical sidekick and occasional ego boost/emotional support) or obedient princess in distress that is Adrien who too emotional and need protection. That's why adrichat written that way. Why choose when u can have both 2 in 1.

Luka not ending up with Marinette is not because Adrichat need to end up with the girl.

It's because Marinette is the one that need to get the girl.

It's totally fine. This is the local rant blog that stands for pretty much everything that THAT side of the fandom would probably disagree with. Personal opinions galore cause this is about our feelings rather than what's actually facts 😔 and I gotta say, YES. I KNOW THIS FEELING.

Like, hard same anon! I've been here since season 1 and pretty much all the authors I used to follow for MLB fics back in the day have either moved on to greener pastures or turned to the salt side. No in between. That feeling of loving their old works and wanting more of that only for them to start pumping out stories that gets harder and harder to get into the deeper into the salt pit they go.

Lukanette though has(had?) this bad rep with being near synonymous to Adrien salt, extremely prominent in the S3 era enough that I am completely soured over the ship for the same reasons you state here anon. Heck, soured me over Marinette too but now even canon is doing it. I haven't checked on that side of the fandom cause, well, #selfcare. Don't like don't read. The summaries give me psychic damage. So I'm just gonna take your word for it that they're still at it.

Gonna throw my hat in the ring here:

The thing that cracks me up about Lukanette is the way they tout it as a healthy ship, but it's mostly about what Marinette gets out of the relationship.

It's always "Marinette is less stressed around Luka cause he doesn't have his own heavy baggage to drag her down like Adrien does". But never a thought is spared on how Marinette could drag Luka down with HER baggage.

There's also "Adrien would ask too much emotional support from her". Yet canonically, it's the other way around, the abuse victim is the one comforting Marinette every time even if he's the one who's hurting. And funny enough, the one time Luka asked for emotional support or comfort and asked her to tell him what she's hiding, they broke up.

The shit I've seen them nitpicking gets more and more ridiculous like comparing the way Chat Noir comforted Ladybug vs how Luka comforted Marinette in S3 finale and deemed Luka as the superior comforter cause he just lets her be without pressure and was sweeter while they consider Chat Noir's words of encouragement to be what, bland? Or just telling her what to do? But like, it was Chat Noir's words that kept her going as if that isn't worth anything, sure. Or how they compare Luka's flirting style to Chat Noir as sweeter and more sincere even though he's just as cheesey like c'mon! He talks like a fortune cookie! It's as corny as Chat Noir's over the top flirting tbh. Deadass please...

It's always about what benefits Marinette. Nothing on what Luka gets in this relationship. He can't even complain if she calls him the wrong name in the middle of the date. Imagine this carrying on to their wedding night and Luka just rolls with being called Adrien in a moment of passion 😂 poor dude. He deserves better.

Lmao with the irony of them wanting a boyfriend for Marinette who doesn't complain about his baggage and is always willing to lend her a shoulder to cry on and support her and prioritize her and is completely selfless for her... And that's pretty much canon Adrien.

If anything, the Luka in those kinds of fics can read as Adrien Lite 😂 while Adrien is just a sexy lamp at this point, at least most of us can see he had the potential to be interesting so there's some substance there.
