❝You know I ain’t here to judge you,  I’m just here for you.❞  Tyreese had learned that in this world, there was too little to hold dear.   He didn’t always understand the decisions the people he cared about made,  he didn’t always agree with everything they did,  but he wasn’t going to cut them out because of that.  He wasn’t going to hold those who he had for the longest at an arm’s length.   He offered Carol an apple.  ❝You should eat somethin’.❞

❝I don’t want any trouble.❞  Morgan explained.  He held his staff in one hand,  but it was off to the side,  hands almost raised in the way that suggested peace.  The amount of trouble he’d seen unfold back in Alexandria,  The Kingdom.   Morgan knew the wickedness that people caused.  That was why he wanted to be  alone. 

❝Neither do we.❞  Tyreese said,  one hand raised in front of him to show he wasn’t going to aim a weapon at the stranger. Tyreese could be wary when it came to strangers,  despite his good intentions.  He had his own run in with dangerous people.  Tyreese glanced to his side,  eyes catching with Lee’s to try and read what the other man was thinking.  He and Lee had gotten to be great friends over their time together.  They worked well together.

Tyreese watched with wide eyes as he was saved.   A knife straight through the walkers head.   He pushed the body off,  then got himself off the ground.   ❝Damn,  that was close.❞   He took in a deep breath.   ❝Thanks.   I’m usually good when they’re up close.❞

Seeing Alden and Luke returned to Hilltop without harm was a  relief.   It was true that Tyreese and Alden hadn’t always seen eye-to-eye.   Tyreese would just  blame that on Negan,  who was behind bars.   That being said,  Tyreese was no stranger to outsiders,  hostile outsiders.   This group of walker skin-wearing people was the newest threat.   It had been a long time since something felt this threatening.   With Maggie away,  a new group of people at Hilltop,  and now Jesus dead,   Tyreese was being looked at as a  leader.   However,  Tyreese was still looking to the people he had grown close with,  that he saw just as fit to make decisions for the community.   He wanted Alden’s input,  needed what information Alden had gotten from this savage group of people.

But first,  he needed to know that Alden was okay.   There was time for planning what was to come,  but what was the use in  standing their ground  against this group if there was no one left to stand for?

❝Rick can talk about mercy and fairness and whatever he wants.   It’s not fair and it’s not justice.   Rick thinks he runs the whole damn thing and he doesn’t.   Hilltop looks to you,  Mason.    You’ve got a say in this world just as much as Rick Grimes does.❞   Tyreese knew that both of their reasoning for wanting Negan dead was biased,  but  so be it.   Why shouldn’t someone capable of what Negan was die when he killed so many?   ❝I don’t like violence.   I don’t like killing.   But these people need to know we won’t stand for what Negan has done.❞

❝Man,  you gotta be careful out there.❞  Tyreese said it firmly.   There was a slight bit of resentment that Tyreese held towards Daryl.   It wasn't  fair,  but he did.   It was just that Daryl had made it out of The Sanctuary.   Alive.   Sasha hadn’t.   Tyreese was a little bit lost without his sister,  and it was like he was taking on the harder parts of her.   It wasn’t fair that Daryl had made it out and he was so willing to just  risk everything.   Not that Sasha wouldn’t have been the same damn way,  but it was complex mess of emotions that Tyreese had over losing her.   ❝That reckless bullshit you pull out there?   It’s not helping us win this.❞

Tyreese was a bit  shaken  by the way that the leader of that prison group had told them to leave.   He couldn’t help being on guard after that encounter.   He was usually optimistic about people  ( maybe more-so than he should’ve been in a world like this  --  he was learning that quickly  ),  and was willing to give the people of Woodbury a chance,  as they all seemed like decent people.

❝Before we were on the road,  we had it pretty good.   We were in a fully stocked bunker for months.   Eventually ran out of supplies and had to  go.❞   Tyreese explained.   ❝How you manage to keep this place running is a miracle,  but it’s one I ain’t gonna question.❞   He offered a smile.    ❝I’m just glad you’re willing to let people in.❞

❝I lost my sister because of this.  Trust me,  I’m pissed.  I want to end them too.❞  Tyreese explained in a steady voice.  He was attempting to talk the other man down.  He didn’t want anyone else dying,  even though it was inevitable during war.  ❝We have a plan for a reason.  You just going out there  --  that’s not part of the plan.  It’s not a good idea.❞
