“We should do this every year.” A handful of popcorn was shoved into his mouth, buttery fingers wiped off on the kitchen town that had been haphazardly left on the counter. The bucket was scooped up in one arm, two sodas balanced in the crook of his elbow on the opposite arm. “You know…unless you run off and get married on me.” Daniel was teasing her, obviously, but he had to admit that having a completely platonic Valentine’s Day date with one of his best friends was one of the better ideas he’d ever heard.
Everyone needed a friend like Alice.
Snacks balanced precariously, Daniel made his way over to the sofa and managed to put everything down on the coffee table without dropping even one kernel of popcorn. That? He was going to give credit to werewolf reflexes – a normal person would have been picking popcorn out of the carpet for a week.
“You pick a movie? Let’s watch something scary – not one of those Valentine Day romance flicks. I don’t need to be reminded that my love life is terminally bad…” Eyes lit up as if an idea had suddenly come to him, one that was just perfect given the holidays. “What’s that one? With the guy from supernatural? Uh…about the hearts and the pickaxe? My Bloody Valentine? Let’s watch that one – it fits the theme.”
