More TSP ramblings because I cannot for the life of me get this game out of my head:

The way the Narrator is always going back to, sometimes desperate for and occasionally even grasping at straws for, the story or any kind of story in this game BREAKS MY HEART sometimes. Because having a story be his is all he knows in this game; it’s all his purpose in this world, so when something like that is absent, even just to him, he feels devoid of pretty much everything that makes him HIM :(

And that’s what makes situations like the Confusion ending and Not-Stanley ending so impactful, because the story that’s being so derailed is what the Narrator centers his entire being around, and can’t help but to because that’s entirely what he was made for.

Even in regular parable shenanigans, like Stanley simply not following orders, the Narrator often overreacts which is the driving point in many endings, that we understand.

It causes the Narrator to act selfish and snarky and often coming across as cruel to Stanley, when really it’s more of a defense mechanism, in my eyes. However he’d really never fucking admit that because my wonderful genderless disembodied voice is WAY too prideful for his own good

I’m sure this kind of thing has been talked/thought about numerous times but I wanted to put my point of view in the pot as well!
