OBSERVATIONS OF PEOPLE I KNOW

My mom has MERCURY TRINE SATURN in her chart, and she’s constantly making lists for everything - home maintenance, things to buy … you name it, she’s got a list for it. In fact, it was her who taught me the strategy of making lists for my homework every day back when I was in middle school.

My dad has a LEO STELLIUM with his Sun, Mars, and Mercury in the twelfth house. Given that it’s in the twelfth house, you’d expect these traits to be hidden or concealed in some way since that’s what the twelfth house does — but here’s the catch: he’s also a LEO RISING. I’m reminded of this every time I joke with my mom about how Dad always takes forever to leave a party, and even then it’s only after saying goodbye to everyone there no matter how well he knows them.

My childhood ex best friend has both ASCENDANT SQUARE SUN and MC OPPOSITION SUN in her birth chart, and has struggled immensely with her confidence and self-esteem throughout her whole life.

That same childhood ex best friend has 4TH HOUSE SOUTH NODE in her natal chart, and the best way I can characterize her upbringing is that of your typical super religious super Conservative American Catholic household. Unfortunately, she has not yet evolved into embracing her 10th house north node — instead, she only retreated more and more into the confines of her family and the Church after we graduated from high school in 2020, and kinda went off the Religious Fanatic Deep End. Only through watching her character arc have I fully been able to understand the consequences of letting your south node take the reins and never tapping into the opportunities of your North Node 😭

My dad has an 8TH HOUSE CHIRON, and he had a difficult childhood marked by financial struggles in a low income family. He also struggles with emotional vulnerability — until my mom educated him a bit on Neurodivergence, he had a difficult time learning to communicate with me way back when I was first diagnosed with my Autism and ADHD.

I myself have 3RD HOUSE CHIRON in my natal chart, and was in speech therapy from kindergarten until seventh grade / age twelve.

One of my internet friends is a longtime theater kid, and she has SUN CONJUNCT NEPTUNE in the fifth house in her natal birth chart!

GENERAL OBSERVATIONS

Because the moon represents the mother in our natal chart and Mercury represents our communication style, those with MOON SQUARE MERCURY in their natal charts might have difficulty communicating, being vulnerable with, or opening up to their mothers.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, those who have the MOON CONJUNCT MERCURY aspect might be prone to an almost … codependent dynamic with their mothers. Rather than the tense and often traumatizing dynamic of Moon Square Mercury, those with the conjunction might be inseperable with their mothers, turning to them first for advice and comfort when it is needed most.

Individuals with MOON CONJUNCT VENUS lowkey give me “mom friend” vibes regardless of gender, especially if either planet is in the 11th or 7th house.

SATURN SQUARE NEPTUNE individuals likely have some level of difficulty tapping into any innate psychic or Clair- abilities they might have. Saturn represents our limitations and squares create tension, so having this aspect makes it a great achievement all the more if one can tap into their psychic abilities to any extent due to being naturally primed for skepticism regarding spirituality and the paranormal.

COMPARING MY PLACIDIUS AND WHOLE SIGN NATAL CHARTS

The house(s) that GEMINI PLACEMENTS are in can show what our academic or personal research interests are! I was talking with someone on Threads whose Gemini Stellium is located in the 11th house in their Placidius chart and their 12th house in their Whole Sign chart - and their research interests? Astronomy, math, life coaching, and user psychology. My Gemini Stellium is located in the 8th house in Placidius and 9th house in whole sign, and lately I’ve been fixated on the history of American chattel slavery, the Antebellum era (both slavery and Antebellum stuff - 8th house themes because other peoples’ money), the Gilded Age (MAJOR 8th house themes here because other peoples’ finances + robber barons, but also hella 9th house themes because said robber barons did a lot of philanthropy), the paranormal, and identifying my past lives.

My CANCER MOON is in the tenth house in my Whole Sign chart, but it’s in my ninth house in my Placidius chart. To me I feel like this reads as a deep emotional need for public (tenth house) recognition in the academic world (ninth house).

PLACIDIUS NATAL BIRTH CHART

My TWELFTH HOUSE — the house of hidden things — is ruled by Virgo in my Placidius chart and I’ve struggled with Virgoian themes my entire life, particularly executive function skills and keeping my academic workload organized. Of course, both of these challenges are linked to my neurodivergence but I find it fascinating that the house of hidden things is ruled by the sign representing the things I struggle with the most.

My ELEVENTH HOUSE is also ruled by Virgo, which is ruled by Mercury. Mercury is CONJUNCT SATURN in my aspects, and given that conjunctions blend energy while Saturn limits the expression of that energy, it is little wonder that making and keeping friends is and always has been a Herculean effort for me.

I feel like my MERCURY CONJUNCT SATURN aspect might also be an astrological indicator of my delayed childhood development when it came to speech. I was in speech therapy for EIGHT YEARS because learning to speak was such a Herculean task for my tiny self (Saturn limits and restricts everything it touches) but now that I’ve mastered the themes of this conjunction by making it past the hurdle of speech therapy, I’ve become a theater kid who deeply loves public speaking and yaps during class discussion.

My MARS TRINE URANUS aspect feels like an astrological indicator of how my neurodivergent brain handles hyperfixations and special interests - when I gain a new interest, it is often unexpected (Uranus) and comes with a passion (Mars) for the topic or hobby that tends to fluctuate over time at an unpredictable rate. I also associate this aspect with my Essential Tremors, a condition I have which is characterized by the random uncontrollable trembling hands and is manageable with medication, but gets noticeably worse when I’m anxious.

One of my major asteroid placements is an 8th House SUN CONJUNCT ALGOL in Taurus. Multiple folks both online and in “real life” have admitted that they were intimidated by me before I either approached them first or they found the courage to do so.

TRANSIT CHARTS

The “long weekend” that my uni gives us in honor of MLK day - no classes on that Monday - happened to coincide with a transit in my chart where i had a FOURTH HOUSE STELLIUM with my Sun, Mercury, Moon, and Venus. I spent the weekend at home because I live twenty minutes away from campus (but I live on campus during the week because Adulting)

I find it fitting that my transit Jupiter - the planet of expansion that amplifies everything it touches - is currently in the NINTH HOUSE at the beginning of my last semester of undergrad…

MARS IN THE THIRD HOUSE - because Mars is tied to Aries, whenever I have this transit I often see an onslaught of emails and text messages and thanks to the impulsive nature of Aries, it is very easy for one to miss a message / let a message fall through the cracks. HISTORICAL FIGURE ASTROLOGY

ON TODAY’S EPISODE OF ASTROLOGICAL PLACEMENTS BEING WAY TOO LITERAL…

American President JOHN ADAMS (1735-1826) had an ARIES MOON in his natal chart, and he was known by friends and foes alike as someone who “loved to talk”. Man was one HELL of a yapper lmao, which also means that his 3RD HOUSE MERCURY in Scorpio checks out.

JOHN CALDWELL CALHOUN (1782-1850) had 4TH HOUSE MERCURY RETROGRADE in his natal chart, which gets really fucking funny when you remember that this man was basically the father of the rhetorical foundation upon which the Confederacy was built. He was all about defending what he saw as the South’s right to their traditions - slavery, the so-called “peculiar institution” - and of course, 4th house mercury placements have the potential for tradition to be a central theme of their lifetime.

HENRY CLAY (1777-1852), who was known as “The Great Compromiser” for his political compromises that stalled the onset of the American Civil War, had a GEMINI STELLIUM in his natal chart with his Moon, Venus, and Uranus.

EDGAR ALLEN POE (1809-1849) was a famous author whose works centered around themes of death, the macabre, and psychological horror. He was the first American to earn a living exclusively through writing, a major contributor to the science fiction genre, and widely regarded today as the father of detective fiction. Fittingly, he was a SCORPIO RISING and had a PISCES STELLIUM which included his Moon, Venus, Jupiter, and Pluto.

ULYSSES S. GRANT (1822-1885) had a TAURUS SUN and CANCER MOON in his natal birth chart. Throughout his life, Grant was known as a gifted equestrian who seemed to have a natural affinity for horses.

FRANKLIN D. ROOSEVELT (1882-1945) — y’know, the guy who literally pulled the United States out of the Great Depression during his presidency with the implementation of programs such as Social Security — had an 8TH HOUSE SATURN in his birth chart. Saturn is the planet of authority and discipline; the eighth house is commonly associated with other peoples’ money and resources.

EDMUND HILLARY (1919-2008) — the first man confirmed to have summitted Mount Everest — had a 9TH HOUSE VENUS in his natal chart. I myself have a 9th house Venus, and although I’d never even think about doing mountaineering myself, I’m still absolutely fascinated by Everest, Annapurna, and K2!

ASCENDANT PERSONA CHART

My PISCES MOON in the Third House means that when I have to process my emotions, I do so best by talking to people about them. This makes sense — I’ll often struggle to parse how I’m feeling about something when it’s just me yapping with myself in my head, but when I bring the topic up in conversation I frequently realize mid-sentence what I was trying to articulate. There are also times when I’m reading something written by someone else and they manage to perfectly articulate my emotions surrounding a topic.

LIBRA MERCURY CONJUNCT MARS IN THE TENTH HOUSE — I feel like this placement is reflective of the fact that people perceive me as a fast and loud talker. Even if most of the loudness of my voice is a product of me being hard of hearing, if we take away those hearing challenges (or if I just put in my hearing aids, lol) then I still have the tendency to yap at the speed of light. Heck, I yap so loudly that my parents and I have established little hand signals for when I'm talking too loud LMAO

I have SAGITTARIUS PLUTO in the first house in this chart, and multiple people – both online and in “real life” – have admitted to me that they found me intimidating at first.

CAPRICORN NESSUS IN THE SECOND HOUSE indicates that when they meet me, people tend to quickly clock my insecurity and past traumas around my self-image and self-esteem, particularly the flavor of insecurity and trauma that comes from never fitting in with traditional society.

GEMINI SATURN IN THE SEVENTH HOUSE - this one made me giggle a bit but also lowkey hurt my heart because YEAH NO SHIT people tend to see me as the loner sitting in the corner of the room at a party or gathering, with her nose in a book or her phone rather than yapping with people. My entire life story has literally been "I want to make friends with people but feel restricted in my ability to communicate with others, and that yearning as well as its inherent restrictions do NOT go unnoticed".

MERCURY PERSONA CHART

My GEMINI SATURN is in an eleventh house Stellium in this chart with my Sun, Mercury, and North Node. I’ve struggled with making friends my whole life due in large part to Saturnian limitations placed on friendships by my neurodivergence, but Saturn’s presence here with my Sun and Mercury reminds me of I’ve actually found myself thriving in group settings if the dynamic and vibe is just right. This placement also makes me think of how, in the midterm course feedback for my European history course, I told my professor that I actually love it when she tells us to “turn to our neighbors” and talk about whatever we’re talking about in class for like five minutes. Saturn’s restrictions are eased for me thanks to the Sun and Mercury if I click with the other members in a given group interaction.

Now that I think about it, I can probably blame my CANCER VENUS IN THE TWELFTH HOUSE for the fact that I can't stand small talk especially since this placement is also opposite my CAPRICORN CHIRON and conjunct my CANCER JUPITER.

ELEVENTH HOUSE GEMINI MERCURY SQUARE EIGHTH HOUSE AQUARIUS URANUS — I do not do well with and in fact will lowkey crash out when sudden changes — such as an unexpected family dinner or gods forbid a surprise party — are made to my schedule.

My Sun, Mercury, Mars, and Jupiter are all in a NINTH HOUSE LEO STELLIUM in this chart, and I'm currently working on graduate school applications for a History M.A. because I want to get a PhD after that and become a history professor!

This desire to teach is also present in my FIFTH HOUSE ARIES PART OF FORTUNE TRINE NINTH HOUSE CANCER SUN, since it indicates that in my ideal career path there are opportunities for a public-facing job that allows me to be creative and innovative while educating others.
