ok -- uhhh long rant ahead??? i usually don't mind the way they f*ck up continuity in some cases when it comes to the xmen but -- they really just --- it's like they said a big "fuck you!" to the source material from days of future past, onward. like -- wtf is the ending of "apocalypse"??? is anyone else fuming that they made mystique the 'founder' of the xmen?? to my recollection she's been one of the biggest advocates for the brotherhood since her inception --she was never a founder of the xmen, rather a founder of the brotherhood. of evil mutants. the antithesis. i just am not ok with that ending -- as if she fucking coined the phrase 'x-men' like -- who made jennifer l*wrence their goddess divine? i may ruffle some feathers with this but -- every time i try and watch this garbage merely for the fact they have olivia munn and oscar isaac, it makes me angry again. -- found this on screenrant and it couldn't be more accurate: "In the comics, Mystique’s character arc has almost gone in the exact opposite direction. While she is usually portrayed as a sympathetic character, her motives are undeniably evil upon her debut. She seeks to destroy S.H.I.E.L.D., the X-Men, and other heroes throughout her early days. Only more recently has she been seen fighting alongside her former foes. Even in these instances, Mystique rarely does anything that doesn't benefit herself." -- also the way they did my girl emma frost dirty. i love january jones, as betty on mad men -- but they certainly didn't provide her much direction or much to go on, as she's such a stiff board in 'first class'. i digress. end rant.
thoughts on smoothies, thoughts on "tense discourse", thoughts on "pov discourse", thoughts on fancasting?
smoothies are, and have always been, the superior way to consume fruit and no one can tell me otherwise. ALSO! it should be illegal to drink smoothies without a straw,,, like i’m 100% sure the people who drink smoothies without a straw are psychopaths ( the best smoothie is pineapple mango, anyone who says otherwise is both a liar and going to jail. i said what i said ). also im abt to make myself sound real dumb but i literally don’t know what tense/pov discourse is akdwjakdawj. i feel like it’s rlly obvious but im a dumbass so,,, im sorry lmaoo ( i’m assuming it’s people arguing about what pov / tense is better??? in which case thats fucking stupid LMAOO ). with fancasting i’m pretty indifferent to it, i don’t really have any strong opinions on it tbh. though it can be really interesting to see what celebrities people associate with certain characters !
penny for my thoughts?
DOC HOLLIDAY & HOMOSEXUALITY
Back when he was the infamous gunslinger and gambler, the stigma of laying with another man in a sexual way wasn’t exactly viewed the same. Many days, months, or years would be spent in the company of other men. So you can understand that anyone might give in to urges that come a calling, especially if you happen to be sharing a bed. Getting out that tension was something that didn’t make a man out to being different than any other. It was the same with women, who kept close friends of the female sort.
Sure, there were people who had preferences towards the same sex, but there was no label for it really. There was a code between men that if you quoted Walt Whitman it was assumed that you held the same preferences and ideals him. Which is one of the reasons that Doc seems to have little issues with being a very sexual person, flirting with anyone he might fancy at the time, because to him it is something he would have been allowed to do way back when. In general, he has no real preference for who he sleeps with, so long as it is consensual.
However, he did develop feelings for friend Wyatt Earp, with whom he had a close bond with. It would not have been viewed as anything but normal for them to share a bed in more than one way while coexisting together. Nor would it have been a threat to the relationship he had with his common-law wife, Kate. Doc sees nothing wrong with expressing interest in having sex with another man, much like with women, and why he doesn’t think of attaching ‘strings’ to sexual relations with anyone. In fact, he is highly partial to open relationships, and even poly ones as well. Any commitment on his part is that he will always be there for those he cares about, no matter if they are sexually involved or not.
When you ship with Liam you get a few different things.
The nerdy professor aka a knockoff Indiana Jones type.
The scruffy nerd who doesn’t stop talking about geeky shit.
The rugged explorer who really likes hiking and camping.
& the playful but surprisingly seductive and dominant lover.
old but gold seb headcanons taken from my old blog;;
- He’s extremely untrustful, especially after STEM. Sebastian allows Kidman to get close enough to almost be classed as a friend, but the title is only given to those he truly trusts. Joseph is the only person he considers to be a friend. It’s nothing personal, just a habit he has produced after losing everyone he loves.
- Sebastian never knew his mother, only growing up with his father. He was a good man, however the long nights he worked often left Sebastian alone.
- Being a detective was a goal he had from a young age, always wanting to protect and help people and the city he lives in. This passion never leaves, one of his reasons for not letting people close anymore is fear of hurting them. Inside STEM he tries to help and look after everyone in there, an effect of him feeling that his job is to protect people, and being in a nightmare isn’t going to stop that.
- Sebastian gives great hugs.
- Haunted!Seb: is extremely destructive and dangerous, unlike Joseph it comes in phases of only a few seconds, lasting 20 at most. He’ll throw an attack at anyong close enough in those few seconds. His haunted version is pure rage and anger, and won’t form any words at all. It happens too quickly and suddenly to warn anyone, and always catches Sebastian and others off guard.
- He eats like a fucking college student and is just. Terriable, awful, this man has no care for his health at all. He lives off coffee and will often just sleep in his office.
STUDY : NEVA NEVOIR . tagged by : no one.
— basics.
➳ is your muse tall / short / average ?
leaving off at a slender 5′11 (and a half! ), Neva is considered quite tall. in most verses, she’s around 5′5″-5′7″, but 5′11″ will be what she ends her growing cycle at.
➳ are they okay with their height ?
for a span of some time, she would oft’ wonder if her height was just yet another thing that made her abnormal or weird; she knows so few other tall women and this impacted her perception of it greatly. however, she’s moved on from that for the most part. i honestly think sometimes she’s glad she’s on the taller side, maybe it makes her jokingly feel powerful.
➳ what’s their hair like ?
brown, brown, brown! she sports an otherwise plain, chocolate brown intermingled with subtle other shades of the colour. it falls long and tangled lightly, down just about to the small of her back unless fixed up into messy braids.
➳ do they spend a lot of time on their hair / grooming ?
by no means, no, nope, not at all. she appreciates others who have good hair ( she’s a girl who will definitely comment “your hair smells great! what shampoo do you use?!” if she gets a whiff. ) and doesn’t let hers get knotted into huge, painful tangles, but i don’t think she’s ever been to an actual hair salon in her life. off it goes, by the blade of a dagger!
➳ does your muse care about their appearance / what others think ?
one time, a girl named Nora Velt called Neva ugly and Neva cried. she doesn’t care obsessively or anything, but appearances confuse her because she doesn’t understand why they’re important to some people. she wants to appeal to others, certainly, but she also thematically believes she doesn’t have the time for extended upkeep. she tries to be cleanly, at least, when she can.
