𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞𝐬 :   being  a  sarcastic  little  shit ,  being  in  charge ,  anita ,  money ,  burying  each  and  every  emotion  deep  inside  her ,  keeping  her  friends  &&.  family  being  safe ,  sweets ,  arguing ,  cats. 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞𝐬 :   people  second  guessing  her  authority  or  abilities ,  cowards  (  or  anyone  she  deems  as  cowardly  ),  the  boss ,  getting  blackout  drunk ,  birds. 𝐚𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐜 :     split  lips  and  bandaged  knuckles ,  not  recognizing  the  person  in  the  mirror ,  tattered  jeans  and  worn  boots ,  fighting  for  a  better  future  for  your  loved  one ,  the  sun  peeking  over  the  horizon ,  reeking  of  sex  and  sweat ,  half  buttoned  shirts  and  rolled  up  sleeves. 

                                        ━━ 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 . 

a.   anita  sakhineti.   the  love  of  her  life — mengzhi  met  anita  back  in  the  early  2080′s  when  mengzhi  used  to  be  an  investigator  for  hire  for  missing  women  and  girls.  the  two  met  one  night  while  mengzhi  was  passing  through  a  red  light  district  in  guangzhou  and  mengzhi  helped  fend  off  a  group  of  men  that  was  attacking  anita.  the  two  became  inseparable  after  that.  anita  is  mengzhi’s  only  anchor  to  not  giving  into  the  monster  she  fears  she’s  becoming,  if  anything  were  to  happen  to  her  anita  doesn’t  show  what’d  she’d  do.

b.   lai  ssu - ying.   an  old  colleague  and  friend,  ssu - ying  used  to  be  apart  of  mengzhi’s  investigations  and  the  two  have  known  one  another  since  they  were  in  high  school.  though,  after  they  left  guangzhou  mengzhi  ended  up  throwing  ssu - ying  under  the  bus  to  save  anita’s  hide  and  now  the  two  aren’t  on  speaking  terms.  mengzhi  deeply  regrets  that  and  even  though  they  don’t  talk  she  would  still  lay  down  her  life  for  ssu - ying,  in  a  selfish  way  she  really  misses  her.

d.   binadu  avalos.   her  closest  friend  other  than  anita,  you  put  these  two  clowns  in  a  room  together  and  you  can  bet  your  ass  that  they’ll find  some  sort  of  shit  to  get  themselves  into.  binadu  was  her  only  real  friend  that  she  found  in  the  gang  and  she  can’t  count  the  amount  of  times  he’s  saved  her  skin  or  gotten  her  through  a  tough  time.  literally  the  definition  of  ‘ your  the  only  bitch  in  this  house  that  i  ever  respected. ’  they  are  very  ride  or  die  for  each  other.  and  he  bullies  junyi  with  her  so  that's  an  added  bonus.

e.   hong  junyi.   if  she  could  fight  junyi  and  not  have  77  tear  her  a  new  one,  she  would.  junyi  was  the  person  who  introduced  her  to  the  street  gang  that  she  runs  with  and  and  hasn’t  forgiven  him  for  it,  and  truly  she  never  will.  not  only  that,  she  hates  how  he  gets  special  treatment  from  the  boss  due  to  being  her  nephew.  mengzhi  sees  him  as  a  coward  with  his  constant  need  for  protection  from  77  and  she  takes  every  opportunity  she  can  to  bully  him.

   she  was  all  blood  and  bruises  and  regrets,  black  and  blue  and  green  and  purple.  the  bags  that  sat  under  her  eyes  were  deep  and  dark,  blood  that  trickled  and  flecked  from  the  cut  etched  into  her  eyebrow  mixed  with  the  bit  coming  out  of  her  nose  and  pooled  in the  corner  of  her  mouth.  mengzhi  couldn’t  even  recognize  herself,  physically  nor  mentally.  it  looked  as  if  belonged  there,  the  blood,  the  bruises,  the  regret.  all  of  it  added  to  the  monster  that  she’d  become,  the  persona  she  was  forced  to adapt.  it  made  her  sick.  it made  her  whole.

  clinging  to  the  counter  she  stared  at  the  shell  of  a  woman  that  glared  back  at  her.  being  out  in  the  streets,  fighting  for  your  life  everyday  and  not  knowing  if  it’d  be  your  last.  it  changes  you.  mengzhi  averted  her  eyes  as  bile  crept  up  her  throat.  monster.  that’s  what  she  was  destined  to  become.  anita  only  stunted  that  process,  she  didn’t  know  what  she’d  do  (  or  become  )  without  her.

𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐩𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐮𝐲𝐥𝐞𝐫  has always been an ambitious woman . from the day she was born a fire had been ignited inside her , burning brightly with the deep desire to become something . when she was younger her mother had cradled her in her arms with a warm smile on her face as she told her that she’s bound to be burnt by it. 

those same words her mother had whispered to her played on repeat in delphine’s head as she sobbed in front of her family’s graves . the weight of the schuyler family legacy a heavy weight on top of her shoulders , a weight she had welcomely burdened , but a weight she was terrified of none the less. 

that fire inside of her had never burned brighter . delphine did her best to put it out.

eleven years later , delphine is now living with her uncle in the small town of calico , a quiet mining town that doesn’t see much crime save for a handful of street robberies and “ suspicious figures ” prowling it’s dusty streets . so when the local gun smith and a bank teller turn up with a bullet between their eyes and matching missing chunks out of their flesh , saying that the people of calico had lost their minds would be the understatement of the century . with rumors passing through the town like a plague and delphine’s uncle obsessing over finding and arresting the “ red devil, ” delphine can feel that hunger for ambition creeping back in and hovering over her like a second shadow , the familiar warmth of that forgotten fire spreading through her veins.

absolutely adores playing music and singing , she views music as a form of escapism and whenever she needs to de - stress she’ll find a quiet spot and jam out on her harmonica or practice her singing.

𝐦𝐚𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐚  “ 𝐫𝐞𝐝 "  𝐬𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐳 - 𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐫  —  a  cunning  and  brash  outlaw  hell - bent  on  getting  the  revenge  she’s  due  and  who’ll  stop  at  nothing  to  get  it .

after the tragic death of her parents by the hands of the claiborne gang ,  mahalia and her twin sister were abducted and forced to work in a prostitution and gambling den in order to pay the debt her father failed to pay off.

a formidable gambler who may or may not have an addiction . will not hesitate to kick your ass at poker and drain you for all you’re worth by using the dirty tactics she picked up from her years at the gambling den.

has to use a cane due to her bad knee which was fractured by the leader of the claiborne gang , arthur claiborne . loves beating the shit out of people with it because she finds it funny.
