the annihilation trailer looks like a tumblr aesthetic post for Ghostbusters Gothic and i, for one, love it
“four lady scientists are humanity’s last hope against a paranormal force and The Man doesn’t trust their findings even with evidence, plus bonus the main male role is mostly eye-candy”
Also, I really need an Ocean’s Eight/Ghostbusters 2016 crossover. Thanks.
ghosted is amazing
but imagine if it starred leslie jones, melissa mccarthy, kate mckinnon, and kristen wiig?
because it would be exactly ghostbusters 2016
that’s not slamming ghosted; i really enjoyed it
i’m just saying
they could have just made it a ghostbusters tv series
(also:
possession stories are inherently rape narratives [as are a lot of sff tropes; mind-control/love potions/vampire siring/faerie drugs/etc.]
and i have A Lot Of Feelings about both abby and kevin in that regard
in terms of representing demographics less frequently shown in the media as victims in possession/rape narratives
but also it being played for laughs for the most part? i GET THAT IT’S A COMEDY and there are moments that are genuinely shown as frightening particularly wrt abby, but
anyway
i have a lot of feelings about it)
(as you may all have guessed)
(because that is the thing i do: have feelings about sff metaphorical rape narratives not bearing their own gravity)
We went to a post-ceremony Ghostbusters showing, and in the scene where Erin finally embraces the name and exclaims, “We’re the Ghostbusters!” a tiny little girl in the theater shouted “WE’RE THE GHOSTBUSTERS!” and I was So Happy. Like Damn. Good Stuff. My heart is full of love.
GHOSTBUSTERS WAS AMAZING. IT WAS THE FUNNIEST MOVIE I HAVE SEEN IN A LONG, LOOOOONG TIME. A-MAY-ZING.
