"I didn't think I'd see you here," he mentions, elbow resting on the edge of your window. The bracelets across one wrist catch the light at odd angles and you watch the faint glow scatter across your dashboard. The steering wheel. There's smoke in the air. Lively laughter. The kind of energy you so dearly miss when you stalk through the streets like a ghost alone at night. "Octavia invited me," you reply, eyes slow to return to his. "Figured I'd have to see you in action."

"You don't hesitate, do you?" you ask, some bravado returning. You catch yourself. Fall back into familiar form.  "Hesitating gets you knocked out," D challenges, fingers flexing idly before they tighten them into fists again. The plates across their fingers move oddly beneath the tape. There's a faint whirring above the sound of your heart pounding in your throat. "Or killed in this city."

"Another round?" they suggest lightly, fingers splayed across their own glass. They nudge the bottle idly into your direction with the other, "If we finish the bottle, I can get rid of the evidence." You raise one of your eyebrows. Smile, amused and intrigued in equal measure. "That's generous of you. Will I owe you one then?" They shrug, the heat in their gaze unmistakable. "I can think of a few ways on how to settle your debt."

The skin around the chain looks raw. Bloody. Black fur only visible in tufts against deep red skin. There's more blood caked around some of the metal of the chain; brown with age.
