I guess the thing about "everyone is nonbinary these days" is that it's not true. It's that kinda bias where you see something and it pisses you off, so you're more likely to remember seeing it. That being said, I do think way more people are identifying as nonbinary these days than they might have if asked in like. 1990. And I think it's not so much that we have chemicals in the water or microplastics in our brains, but rather that the gender boxes are. Hmm. A little more open now.
What I mean to say is, genuinely, it means something that the punk boys in '03 wore skirts sometimes, or that the sk8r girls of '98 wore boys' jeans. These crushing little boxes society built, the blueprint of what makes a boy and what makes a girl, they're easier to get out of. It's easier to experiment. It's easier to open the box marked "boy" or "girl" and see what's outside.
