My dear (boy/girl/fellow/delete whichever is inapplicable)- they were more than friends. They were in love. I will go to my grave aching over it. As You Like It was Will’s heartrending eulogy. All of it is about grief and love and life at its most absurd- people enter and are taken from us and are suddenly indispensable and are suddenly everything and suddenly nothing- and Kit’s words are woven all through it. The first production of it that I saw understood this so well that it ended with a choral arrangement of Come Live With Me And Be My Love that I can find literally nowhere that still haunts my dreams.

i’m fascinated by this because i’ve seen multiple people talking about the connection between as you like it and marlowe. i haven’t read it (i have been REALLY bad about reading the comedies 😳) but it’s bumped it up on my priority list. but wow having the passionate shepard to his love at the end must’ve really driven it home.
