It’s funny how Gidle fans and everyone in the kpop community comes for BLACKPINK’s throats when they do CA cancelling them 780 times in a row (because of the styling team and directors choosing for them what to wear, we all know YG doesn’t let’s them do s*it like he didn’t gave credits to Lisa and Jennie for writing the rap in Stay), yet Gidle literally had a meeting about choosing the style for their cover of 2ne1’s Fire saying that they should re-arrange it in an “african/ethnic style” and wore bindi for the performance that as a whole was CA but I don’t see y'all cancelling them 750 times in a row. These are double standards too btw and y'all ain’t even bothering hiding them.

(G)I-DLE was pretty clever naming their comeback “Uh-Oh.” The title is itself a warning about the godawful dumpster fire of a song that lies ahead.

There is no doubt that G-Idle is a talented group. However the program Queendom is making me not feel very favourable to them with the way they behave on there. It feels like they have an attitude. It may just be an act but still it aint very cute.

G-idle playing spin the wheel on which culture they want to appropriate next for their newest comebacks doesn’t make them seem diverse or edgy. It makes them look confused and boring because they don’t have their own sound or style. They don’t have to do the same concepts all the time, but there’s no originality in anything they’ve done thus far. Everything is regurgitated.

Often times when we talk about appropriation in K-pop, it’s about the appropriation of African American culture because it happens all the time with most groups. And I think we should also be having discussions about the appropriation of other cultures as well because it can be just as wrong. An example is (G)I-DLE’s appropriation of South Asian/Middle Eastern culture. They were REALLY treading the line with “Latata” in terms of their outfits and dancing, but I’ve seen they have also decided to use a mosque as a backdrop for one of their live stage performances. That is so disrespectful and tasteless. A mosque is a sacred place of worship, NOT a dance prop. The line between appropriation and appreciation has absolutely been crossed.

I really liked gidle’ s latata, The music video was amazing, the song was just perfect. I loved the song soo much that I couldn’t stop listening to it for 2 weeks straight after discovering it. I was curious of the dance moves as the song and concept were pretty powerful, but I was disappointed when I watched the dance practice. The choreography was good but the members didn’t look that powerful dancing it. It was more soyeon touching her body or doing some random sexy move and then everyone following the choreo looking dead inside. It tottaly killed my hype, I can’t even try listening to han now because of that. It may sound like I’m making excuses to disslike the group but I loved the song until I saw the dance practice

Perhaps I’ll be able to get into (G)I-DLE once their choreographies and music videos no longer mimic other parts of the world.
