hmmmmmmm... johnson in a teacher au... he'd probably be on the board of education for the school district. not the president or the vice president but one of the five on the board. some silly mix up happens (johnson is a common last name, after all) and he shows up to a school thinking he's there to give a speech but they actually booked him to be a sub (by accident; was supposed to be a different mr johnson) and now he's stuck as a sub and hates kids and thinks this is beneath him. shows up everyday in a black suit, white dress shirt. hates that he's here. he should be above board, making the rules, not stuck in them, with these children.
i'm finishing up a reply for mack and it's made me realize how johnson subconsciously displaces his own bodily sensations and shortcomings onto mack. like, he will not permit himself to feel the fragile concept of cold (that isn't voluntarily self inflicted), but when it's her in the cold, he won't let her feel cold either—but it's not derived from that same shame he cages himself in. he's not at all aware of the reason or feeling/motive behind it. he'd attribute it to simple preservation since he doesn't want her to die. but it's obviously more than that.

johnson can hold his breath indefinitely. this comes in handy when he does not want to be detected (additionally, holding his breath is a requirement if he literally, supernaturally wants to turn "invisible"/imperceivable). but when he holds his breath he hears—without choice—all nearby prayers and hell-souls. he hates hearing either. and often chooses the more direct/violent approach of handling things because going stealth means he's gotta endure the yearning whispering pleas of humans and the blighted flight of hell souls and either is unbearable. together it's horrendous.
