in A Location (idk where but it’s pretty far away from anything) there is a forest with a valley, and in this valley is woodhouse. woodhouse is a large house (probably with other smaller buildings around) that is comprised of entirely wood. it was a hideout/base used by voldemort before harry led an ambush with his alliance and took it over for himself.
the reason why this is such a secure location, despite its appearance (wooded, easily flammable, etc), is that woodhouse is not just a location -- it’s also a magical entity. it basically is the valley and cares for the beings that it considers its things. to speak with it, one has to slip into a vague sort of otherwordly awareness -- and its more that you don’t speak to it, but you feel it, and it feels you.
but anyway. if you hurt woodhouse by fire or try to cut it down or try to hurt the things it considers its own, the vines and grass and rocks and literally everything will rear up and swallow you whole into the ground, where u will either suffocate or be crushed, and woodhouse has no remorse about it.
dismay: “Do you have to sharpen that knife while we talk? It’s really ominous.” xayah
julie: xayah: [answering scrape of knife being sharpened]
dismay: Rakan: sweats xayah holding a knife at him when they first meet and rakan's just like that fucking cat meme
there exists a type of family that both the light and dark pureblood families have rejected; the Old Blood. the old blood families (i think there are only 1-2 in the hp universe) are extremely widespread, including absolutely anybody born or married into the family. their bodies are lined with tattoos of the family tree; given the breadth, it covers the entire body and often overlaps. these tats are usually covered by glamours.
the old blood does not support war or killing... but ! should they require it, any person in the family can draw from all of the magic in their family and use it as if it were their own.
in europe, though not advertised to the public, the opalline family is an old blood family.

write who you know: The easiest character to write is one who comes premade. For various reasons, an author writes themselves or their friends into the story, as themselves. Maybe it's an in-joke. Maybe it's a message. Maybe they're just seizing the nearest source of inspiration.
julie... the most self-insertiest self-insert to ever self-insert...

ridiculously successful future self: When a series involving young characters skips ahead to the future it will rarely be more than a few years into the future (unless Time Travel is involved of course), which keeps the characters fairly close to the people we know, and saves on the age makeup. Such is the temptation to show where the character ends up however, that many writers show the character already well established and very successful in their chosen career, even if only a few short years have passed and logic would suggest they should still be somewhere at the bottom, working their way up.
this is particularly prevalent in julie’s stark verse, where she finds immediate success following her debut in university and quickly becomes a well known conductor, composer, and flautist in the music scene by age 25.
also, it’s going to happen in her mainverse, too >:3 but we have to get there first FDLSKJF
luna is a lesbian and dates padma patil starting in her...... ~6th year, i want to say??
did u know that in order to complete an election in magical britain, the candidates have to climb a disillusioned (invisible, and hard to climb while it is invisible) portion of some muggle london tower (some famous one, idr what it’s called) and awaken the magical inventions (also shaped like owls) which then fly to each and every eligible voter over the course of a day... i think if the votes are tampered with then the owls just casually take out your hand’s ability to write for a little while
