happy mother's day from katya and her children, including the upcoming little one! to everyone struggling with today like myself, sending you lots of love and strength. <3
katya found herself taking walks with the children more often with nathanael gone. while on one of them, she came across a suffragette protest, which she knew naztja was taking part in. she herself wasn't brave enough to participate in politics, but was happy that women's rights were being fought for regardless.
it was then when she recognized an all too familiar face in the crowd - josephine, her first and only love. the two shared a short, shocked glance before josephine turned away, continuing the chant.
"VOTES FOR WOMEN!"
although disappointed by her continued anger, katya understood josephine's feelings and was glad to see her doing well for herself. it couldn't be easy seeing your stolen lover with another man's children.
with that, the suffragettes were gone as soon as they appeared. katya took one last look back at them, hoping she might see them again.
one cloudy morning, katya went into labour, this time a short one - after two hours of pushing with the help of lisette, she gave birth to a little girl! the child was named marian eleanor crowley, after her paternal grandmother.
while lydia tended to katya, the crowley children waited impatiently just outside their parents' bedroom door. they whispered to each other, sharing their theories about what might be ailing their beloved mother. the tension grew as time passed, and they were left to their imaginations. finally, nathanael emerged from the room with a glum expression.
out of all the anxious children, joseph was the first to speak up, feeling a heavy sense of responsibility as the oldest child. "father?" he asked, his voice trembling slightly. "is mama..." "your mother isn't doing well, to be perfectly honest", nathanael said, unintentionally interrupting his son. "she likely doesn't have long." this news shocked all the children, as expected - they were all incredibly close to their mother. little marian was especially struck with sadness, immediately clinging to her older sister for comfort. joseph stared at his father in disbelief, unable to accept his lack of emotion. right as he was about to lash out at nathanael, he spoke up once more. "there is something that must be done. come with me, joseph." "but-" joseph started, only to be interrupted once more. nathanael sternly stated, "it's for your mother." after that, there were no more complaints. joseph begrudgingly set aside his pride and took his father downstairs.
