B: The tower is shorter when he's a child, and the steps are smaller. It's still a lot, but not impossible. As he gets older he thinks it's going to get easier to climb them... and then the tower grows taller. And keeps growing, as he does, so no matter how much older and stronger he gets it's always just as hard for him to climb as it was on that first day

Bonus: In scenario B, the gap at the top that Mirabel has to jump has always been there. It, too, was smaller when Bruno was a kid (only a foot wide or so) and grew as he did. That's how he got so good at parkour
