Zoom, Booze, no Doom - Back to the roots
Hello everyone,
here we go - after realising that Tumblr somehow lost my scheduled post for the beginning of May, I finally have the energy to say:
Happy Birthday, Zoom!
“I’ve actually never watched Holby,” I confessed at some point, while I had already written fic and found myself to be part of the Berena fandom.
“We should do a group watch with the fandom friends,” @danceswithcows01 mused.
Soon after this everyone was more or less advised to stay at home and a virtual group watch didn’t seem so weird anymore and so we started
Zoom, Booze, no Doom
- a weekly Saturday evening meeting for everyone who wanted to see our two favourite doctors pining, kissing and being loveable idiots.
The initial plan was to stop after “For Eternity” (aka no doom), and sure, we did stop the first rewatch at that, but we still all stayed home most of our time.
So we met a week after and watched Silent Witness. Inspector Lynley. The Grid. What The Butler Saw. Doctor Who. Berena again, doom included. The Cazalets. Mood Music. Bramwell. Serena’s Holby scenes. By then we had a list of what we watched to keep track of things. We branched out: Theatre plays, Bletchley Circle, Deadloch, bits and bobs with actresses we love. Theatre trips to London and Manchester, meetings in several countries.
And suddenly it's 2026.
Me, doing something for six years in a row? Honestly, I don’t know how that happened. It’s still great fun though. Something steady in tumultuous times, time to spend with friends, a place to have a regular chat and a catch-up, watching things we all enjoy.
By now our fandom is rather on the small side. I'm still pretty sure that the Zoom has changed how we interact with each other. Which I'm very, very grateful for.
I should stop my musings now though, before you all go TL/DR on me. 😅
So, come join in on
Six Years (and a bit more) of Zoom, Booze, no Doom
Saturday, the 23rd May
Germany 8pm
UK 7pm
Wisconsin 1pm
We’re going to watch (drumroll) Holby City Series 18, where a certain Major recovers astonishingly fast from being blown up (for the first time) and a certain vascular surgeon struggles not just with her car.
I’m looking forward to seeing you all - even if you haven't taken part for quite a while or even if you never took part in a Zoom before!

“Where you worried about me?” “No, I’m ranting for fun, because I’m a disagreeable bitch!” He smiled. “You’re a moron!” I told him. He just looked at me. Happy golden lights danced in his eyes. I’d learned exactly what those sparks meant. Fury fled, replaced by alarm. “Kiss me and I’ll kill you,” I warned. “It might be worth it,” he said softly.
