AHHHHH wasn't tick tick boom so good!?!
i watched tick tick boom on wednesday and legitimately have not been able to stop thinking about it. i am an artist who has to make the ultimate choice between doing what i love and financial security within the next year or so, so the whole film hit me HARD. the music is incredible and is making me rethink my previous plague-like avoidance of rent. it was also just such a masterclass in tragedy? there were a few lines about jonathan thinking he couldn't hold out for five more years, or that he might not make it to forty, and knowing that he DIDN'T is so, so heartbreaking. also, that moment in "johnny can't decide" when jonathan sings that michael's "luck will never end"... i hadn't looked up the plot beforehand, which is a rarity for me, but i clocked what was going to happen to michael right at that lyric. the theme of time and inevitability and changing your narrative will always get me without fail. it was such a devastatingly beautiful film. if andrew garfield doesn't win the oscar i am going to personally burn down the academy
