“What are you doing? Why are you on one knee? Get up! Get up!”
To be honest Carolina had wanted to ask Cali to marry her for quiet awhile. Now that the war was over, and with Malcolm Hargrove locked behind bars once and for all, they could begin their new lives on Chorus together. She and Cali were both financially secure, they had a new place to call their own. There was peace, and with their new two month old baby Harmony, they couldn’t be happier.
Carolina had the ring. It was tucked away safely in her coat pocket. She’s had it for about two and half months now. She just wasn’t able to work up the courage to propose to her beloved Dallas. This was all new to her, so needless to say she was rather apprehensive. She worried that she wouldn’t be able to find the right words to say. What if she ended up rambling? Or she’d be so nervous that she’d get tongue tied and no words would come out at all? Or she would start spouting out nonsense?
The ex-freelancer hardly ever got nervous about anything. To be honest she had never really considered settling down. This was a huge step forward for her. Carolina had even gone to Kimball and Wash a few times for advice on how she was going to go about this. They both were supportive and helpful with this. The two had actually given Carolina decent advice and ways to go about this. In which she was very grateful for. She was able to build up enough courage to actually go through it. Now she just needed the right time and moment to do so.
And that time and place was right here, right now.
Slowly, Carolina took a deep breathe and looked into Dallas’s beautiful eyes, gently grasping her left hand into her own before getting down onto one knee. At this point Cali most likely figured out what was happening, and the red-head only just smiled at her reaction listening to her tell her to get up. But she didn’t.
There was a brief pause for a moment, before Carolina managed to get any kind of words out. “I’m… I’m not very good at this. You know i’m not the type to spout out sentimental mush. But I need to get this out, or I might not be able to.” the red-head bit down on her lip a little, her eyes adverting away for a few seconds before returning to lock gaze with Cali. She let out a long breath. “Dallas, I love you, so much.” Carolina tried to keep her voice from shaking with every word she spoke. “I want to be a family with you, raising our Harmony together watching her grow up to be beautiful like her mother. I want spend the rest of my life with you, by my side. Grow old together with you. So i’m just gonna say it now and hope for the best.”
Releasing her hand for a momentCarolina reached her hand into her pocket, feeling the small velvet box inside and pulling it out opening it. Inside was reveled a beautiful, sparkling emerald Cali’s favorite gem set in 14K white gold, surrounded with diamonds on the setting and band.
“Dallas Vargrove, my best friend, love of my life, my soul mate, will you marry me and do the honors of becoming my wife?”
