Threats of immediate and possibly violent death. You can’t make amends or seek vengeance if you’re dead!

Depends. Does she know this unlucky person? Close? Just personally likes them? Then hell yeah, we’re saving this poor chump no matter what! In other cases, well, sacrifices must be made, no? For the greater good yada yada yada.
