After changing back into his normal clothes and hiding his candy, Adam trudges inside. Not because of any sadness, but because his 2am meetings leave him tired pretty much all the time (Benoni could get away with napping in the evenings, Adam could not).

“Hello, Adam.” Hannah says. Adam is pretty sure that lamp wasn’t there before and wonders if Hannah set the scene to be dramatic. (She did.) “Where have you been?”

It was a question, but it also wasn’t. No matter what he said, he would be punished. “Not with a secret girlfriend,” he says.

“You have a girlfriend?! Absolutely not, young man! You are far too young to be thinking about girls! Any girl seducing you at this age is a wicked Deborah and you are not allowed to contact her ever again! Who is she?! I’m going to call her parents!”
