When someone says they aren't pretty or beautiful, sometimes, yeah, the right answer is to reassure them by saying "but you are!"
Many times, however, all it takes is "was there a moment you ever did feel that way?"
Because you'll then discover that sometimes that person needs to grow their hair out to feel beautiful, or they need to start wearing pants more often.
Sometimes it'll be that they need to take a makeup course so they can professionally do their own makeup, or that they only feel that way when wearing certain footwear.
Essentially, it's not about if a person is or isn't, it's about how does this person perceive themselves and what makes them feel pretty and how can we help then achieve that feeling?
