Was thinking about the hive being strongly hinted at being a mother figure and how Koumba, Carol, and Manousos fit into that allegory has been made fairly clear at this point, esp since last episode.

But I couldn't stop thinking about the Laxmi Pluribus of it all. Yes, she is a mother but I feel like there should be a puzzle piece more elaborate than just that. Laxmi has pretty outspoken up until this point kind of functioning as Carol's op (lol) out of all the survivors as Carol tries to break Laxmi's delusion that her child is still the same. And that's when I realized... Laxmi is the mother who refuses to acknowledge that there is something different about her child. She's insistent that Ravi is just the same old child she's always known. And while that is very much her cope for the apocalypse, I also think there's an allegory here for your child growing up and becoming a person who you no longer recognize. Because they are becoming their own person and they're not going to forever be who you want them to be.

And I think about Carol being the one to aggressively point that out, Carol "my mother couldn't handle that I was gay so she sent me to a conversion therapy camp" Sturka.

Laxmi "must you curse so much, there is a child present" Pluribus.

And Carol "asks Ravi about what speculum to use for a pelvic exam and comments about doing a palpation, which isn't inherently sexual but does have certain connotations when in the context of your child growing up/puberty and Laxmi's reaction to it" Sturka
