shoves a hand into her pointy hair, blue blush spreads across her features. ‘ i uhh — i’m glad you’re - i mean , WE are back. ‘

“ i’m glad, too. ” peridot closes her eyes for a moment before reaching up and grabbing lapis’ hand. she smiles as she turns to her. “ i know nobody could tell because they were too amazed at my really cool flying abilities to notice, but while we were fighting white diamond i was… really worried. ” she suddenly pulls lapis into a tight hug, laughing as if at the absurdity of her statement. “ i’m just glad she didn’t hurt you. i don’t know what i’d do if you were… if you were gone, again. i don’t know what i’d do without you! ”

“  wow,  steven,  you  were...  you  were  AMAZING!  ”  peridot tackles steven, hugging him once she has him pinned to the ground. perhaps its some sort of post-adrenaline realization, but a flood of wonderment has overcome the small green gem. it’s several moments before she hops up, allowing him to stand up before she grabs his shoulders and shakes him, vigorously.  “  you  fused  with  them!  all  of  them!  i  mean,  i  knew  you  could  fuse  with  connie  and  amethyst,  but  i  never  imagined-!  ”  perhaps peridot’s inability to successfully fuse herself as of yet is contributing to her excitement; she knows how hard steven has worked to be able to do this.  “  and  then  you  all  did  it-  T  O  G  E  T  H  E  R!  obsidian  was  huge!  ”

“  have  no  fear,  fellow  gem!  it  is  just  i,  your  SAVIOR,  the  kind  and  generous  peridot!  ”  there is a battle raging right outside -- a battle that peridot should be helping with -- but there is also the pressing matter of those inside the buildings near where obsidian and the enlarged bipedal housing unit are fighting. the gems inside could be caught in the cross fire, so peridot has resolved to leave connie for the moment and instead go make sure any bystanders have left. and a good thing she has, too!  “  you  need  to  evacuate  immediately!  ”  peridot grabs the gem’s arm.  “  there’s  no  time  to  explain  there’s-  oh  wait.  ”  peridot lets go, and backs up.  “  it’s  you!  you’re  yellow  diamond’s  pearl!  i  remember  you  from  when  i  called  yellow  diamond  a  -  heh  -  a  MASSIVE  clod!  ”  embellishing a bit, perhaps. suddenly she seems to remember why she’s here.  “  oh,  yeah!  get  on!  we  need  to  leave,  now!  ”

“  awesome,  isn’t  it?  ”  trash-can-lid-riding peridot zooms past black star, then returns, cackling with excitement.  “  i  bet  you  have  never  seen  the  garnet  do  THIS!  ”  once again she flies up, though in her excitement her hastily attempted flip utterly fails, and peridot ends up on the ground right beside black star, the lid clanging a few feet to her right.  “  ...  ouch.  ”

“  steven!  ”  peridot trips over, but quickly scrambles back up, lunging toward steven excitedly.  “  gah,  STEVEN!  did  you  see  that?  did  you  see  me?  ”  she now pushes the lid toward steven, smiling excitedly.  “  now  you  try!  ”  she just as quickly takes it away from him, still with the overly amused grin.  “  that’s  right!  you  can’t  do  it!  only  i  can  do  it,  because  i,  peridot,  have  SOLE  rights  to  the  ENTIRE  sky!  ”  she’s ignoring lapis for the moment. just let her have this.

“  well,  what  can  i  say?  as  the  COOLEST  member  of  the  crystal  gems-  ”  and as their undeniable leader, even if garnet wishes to rival that,  “  i  certainly  deserve  EQUALLY  as  cool  glasses!  ”

“  hello,  newbie.  ”  nyeh heh heh. newbie! get it? because the pyrope be new! peridot learned it online. the internet is something peridot will have to introduce her to!  “  i’m  peridot.  i’m  sure  you’ve  heard  a  LOT  about  me!  ”  peridot lowers her ( very cool and stylish ) sunglasses, looking up at the taller gem, arms akimbo.  “  as  the  leader  of  the  crystal  gems,  i  only  thought  it  right  that  i  should  be  the  one  to  show  you  around.  i  know  so  much  about  beach  city  that  they  should  make  me  mayor!  ”

“  hello,  old  steven.  ”  tone reads of annoyance, and that’s probably what it is as greg very RUDELY interrupted her. has normal steven not taught him any manners? steven is always on peridot’s case about randomly barging in on him ( usually while he’s in the bathroom ) so it seems a bit hypocritical to just let greg get away with it. sure, she is in HIS van, and she is setting fire to HIS things, but he should have at least knocked first!  “  what  do  you  want?  ”  peridot stares at him for a moment before averting gaze toward one corner of the van, where there are two distinct piles of very random things.  “  if  you  are  here  for  your  keys,  they’re  in  the  ‘safe’  pile.  your  guitar  is  in  the  ‘caught  fire  immediately’  pile.  ”
