This was simply, with no better way to put it, “purely Steven”. 

That despite all the wonderful things the boy had accomplished for so many people it was impossible for him to rest until he helped her. The one person that never gave a reason to even consider it normal to want and offer Jasper a better life. 

Someone hell-bent in destruction and self-righteousness that would justify just walking away and forgetting about her. 

To anyone except Steven Universe that is of course. 

Luckily this time she managed to tag along with him, the camping site not too far from the nearest warp pad as the duo decided to take the scenic route. Leaving Lion behind to indulge in a few hours of lazy sleep.

“I find it a little ironic Jasper would move into such a peaceful area.. I mean, if I close my eyes I can hear almost everything around us. It’s very beautiful.”

Though that beauty didn’t last for too long, as soon as the Quartz soldier spotted their arrival it all went off. Steven calmly trying to approach her with genuine conversation as Connie stood close, regretting having allowed herself to be convinced to leave her sword behind.

“Steven I..think we s-” A gasp escaped her as the first boulder came flying at them, barely able to jump out of the way and onto the floor before she felt herself be dragged up. Basically spun into Steven’s arms as he began running with her safely in his super-powered hold.

“W-where are we going!? She’s right behind us!”

This wasn’t the way they came from! The warp was on the other path!

——    ✰      all   of   the   stevens   didn’t   exactly   get   a   break   as   often   they   would   like   to.   it   was   probably   due   to   the   fact   all   of   them   had   so   many   of   their   issues   pent   up   &   locked   away --   simply    waiting   for   the   chance   to   rear   their   ugly   heads   whenever   things   got   calm.    &   hey ,  that   was   okay   ,   it   was   all   alright   to   simply   be   open   with   your   emotions   &   express   yourself.   but  ,  it   was   also   important   to   have   chill   time.   &   recently   the   two   brothers   didn’t   seem   to   be   getting   that.

Baddel had been hearing left and right about Steven’s recent ‘incidents’. How he almost crushed most of their mutual friends, his new cactus ‘son’, on top of other things. This was all swiftly getting out of hand and she was cutting it off before it turned worse.

“Hey, Schtu-ball. You need a pizza break? You’ve been working really hard at healing everything,” Greg said. He knew that Garnet had said water would probably be what Steven needed the most, as staying hydrated was important, but Steven needed food too. Besides, the Pizzas were still in business. The least he could do was make sure Steven was fed.

Besides... this would give them a chance to just chill for a bit. He kind of wanted to talk about how Steven and he had fused, too. Just for the sake of it. The experience was still one of the more wild ones Greg had ever had.
