17, 18, 27 for Thisbe/Vetra?

17. Their ways of expressing their love.

For Vetra it’s usually physical affection and doing things that help Thisbe out. Touch is powerful to her, to be able to hold and physically be close, is the way she feels most comfortable expressing love. She’ll also grab Thisbe’s todo lists and tackle them for her.

Thisbe expresses her love with quality time and gifts. Shutting off any connection to the Initiative and giving Vetra her undivided attention for hours, days, is the best way she can show Vetra how much she cares, along with surprising her with gifts.

18. Is there any way they disappoint each other?

Thisbe can be so goal oriented that she forgets how to people. She can be brusque and flippant and what Vetra sees as unnecessarily cold. Vetra knows people and connections are important and she can be disappointed in how Thisbe handles people sometimes.

Vetra’s smuggler persona is how she does business, and Thisbe can be disappointed when it makes an appearance in their personal lives. She likes to think they’re close enough that when Vetra’s swagger shows up, she feels she’s being pushed away. She’s disappointed when that persona shows up instead of the Vetra she’s grown close to.

27. What makes you excited about their relationship? 

It’s cheating to say “so much” but specifically I’d say the sense of protection and understanding and wanderlust they share. It makes me excited to know Vetra is loved for who she is, and not what she can do. It makes me excited to know that Thisbe will be seen and cared for as a person, instead of just a figurehead. That they both look out for each other’s well being in a world that can and will demand far too much from them. From this foundation they both flourish. Vetra learns to trust, learns to place value in herself. Thisbe learns who she is, unafraid of mistakes costing her this connection.

That they both find in each other a sense of home, a sense of belonging, and personal importance.

37 and 40 for Thisbe x Vetra

37) How much would they be willing to sacrifice for the other? Any lines they refuse to cross?

Being that this is Thisbe’s second relationship, she has a lot to learn about compromise and sacrifice and learning what battles to pick. Vetra’s a little better at it, having been in relationships before.

I think material things are easy enough for them to give up for each other, I even think time is to an extent.

I don’t think either would sacrifice their lives for the other. Vetra would never do that to Sid and Thisbe would never do that to Teddy. I don’t think either would sacrifice their basic principles or morals for the other, although Vetra might let hers bend a bit to keep Thisbe with her - the relationship seems that important by the time everything locks in.

40) Any special memories? Do they have a special place they like to go to?

The first planet they explored after Meridian. It wasn’t a particularly remarkable planet, the name was just a series of numbers, but the feeling was so different - it was so exciting. The mission was done for love of exploration instead of a race against the clock and the kett. It wasn’t a scramble to stay alive. The experience was so freeing and light and giddy. 

They climbed to the top of a high peak and looked out over the landscape and they were there just because. It’s one of their favorite spots. When things get shitty and difficult and mean, they take a few days to revisit it and remind them of why they’re doing what they’re doing.

20, 22 for Thisbe and Vetra please? :)

20) What does their home look like? Their room?

On the Tempest they share Thisbe’s quarters and it’s a mess. There’s so little downtime that isn’t spent sleeping or eating in the early days that the room is in a constant state of disarray. It irritates Thisbe the least, but eventually one of them will have had enough and spend a few hours of their wake cycle cleaning up. It’s not dirty so much as messy piles everywhere. At least the piles have themes, though: clothes, armor, weapons, data pads, weird artifacts...

Their apartment is pretty spartan, considering they aren’t there very often. There are trophies and artifacts scattered around. Everything else is standard issue furniture and layout. The place is spotless and tidy thanks to the cleaning staff. It kind of looks more like the display model than a real apartment.

Having said that, the living arrangements on the Nexus is a little… complicated. Thisbe has her own apartment, and Vetra has hers with Sid. It's initially a struggle getting Vetra to let Sid be on her own and move (more or less) into Thisbe’s apartment. Technically the apartment is in Vetra’s name, but she feels guilty not being there for her sister, especially if they’ve been off-world for weeks or months at a time.

22) Does their work ever interfere with the relationship?

Yes. While they’re both people who plan and try to be as prepared as possible (and they enjoy that about the other), they can butt heads over how a thing should be done. They’re both stubborn and when their goals are aligned it’s smooth sailing - but when they’re at odds it can get intense and stalemate until Thisbe pulls rank which is not how she’d like to solve a conflict, ideally.

The Pathfinder’s never really off-duty, either - even if they happen to be in the middle of the desert in a giant underground cave, enjoying a mud bath and hot springs on their own - emergencies are emergencies. Nothing’s stopping that call coming through her omni-tool. It adds strain but they learn to talk about it, and they learn to savor the free time they do have together, getting to know each other on a more personal level and away from work while they can.

Thisbe and Vetra going on super important Pathfinder missions to new and unexplored planets and totally not taking mental notes of the local mountains and rock formations to figure out which ones would be fun to climb because Vetra totally didn’t get Thisbe hooked on rock climbing I mean that would be so dumb to spend all day scrambling over rocks with your girlfriend and feeling exhausted and sore and accomplished and in love at the end of the day while you eat protein pancakes together on the top of that mountain watching one of three suns set and have never felt more content in your life.

Thisbe buying Vetra a warm little beanie off of someone on the Nexus for Vetra’s naked velociraptor head for when they’re running around on Voeld together. Gotta keep her girlfriend’s noggin warm while that planet thaws out.
