The possibility of getting something better out of this was even more appealing than the challenge itself.

Katsuki felt his lips turn up in a smirk in response.

"Deal. I hope you're prepared to lose," Katsuki agreed, his hand sliding up and down the axe as he got a feeling for his weapon.

Then he opened the fence gate and stepped outside, an eye on the zombies that were forming in a near the distance.

He did a few practice swings of the axe and then the zombies were upon him and he was hacking his way through them.

One.

Two, three.

The zombies around him hit the ground with a smack.

"Care for another mystery meal?"

Did he have much choice?

Katsuki pulled a face at the can with a missing label. It could be anything but food was food and it was scarce with the way the world was now. You'd have to eat what you could get.

"Let's just get this over with already," he muttered as he wielded the tin opener like a weapon and opened it up.

Spam.

He wrinkled his nose and stabbed his fork in the grossness.

“I’m thinking while it’s quiet, now is a good time to do some scavenging.”

Katsuki's eyes scanned the horizon in the mid-afternoon light. It was very quiet out there and the zombies would be easy to spot if they shambled out.

But still...

"Okay then. I'll see if anyone else wants to come. The more supplies, the better," he responded, picking up his gun and checking it for ammo. He nodded at them to go on ahead.

The blonde who stepped out in front of him was unfamiliar.

Katsuki narrowed his eyes, his finger hovering over the trigger. She didn't appear to be undead but it never hurt to be cautious. For fuck's sake, she was wandering around like this. She could be drawing them all in in the hope of stealing their makeshift fort's food.

"Who are you and what do you want?" he demanded, lowering the muzzle of the gun slightly as his eyes darted around her. Still nothing.

Either she was fucking lucky or...

He didn't want to think about the other option.

Sometimes he fucking hated guard duty.

Katsuki scowled as he leaned against the chainlink fence, his fingers always on the butt of his gun in case he had to draw it quickly.

Guard duty was always exhausting and bloody or dull as hell.

Tonight it appeared to be the second option.

"You see anything?" he called out to September who had been on duty with him.
