Ardaka has always hated being the centre of attention, and this particular disdain extends back about as long as he’s even been physically, developmentally able to formulate memory. Being the long anticipated child of the Dominion’s most venerable Speaker, the only privacy he got was that which Yeskiv deigned to give him (which, I mean, she named him Prodigy). Eyes and expectations were on him as soon as he was deemed viable to live, and they were high expectations even without Yeskiv’s own being counted. Naturally, these were practically impossible standards to meet. Escaping this and being treated like a total stranger is like a breath of fresh air, the only time where he can exist without preconceptions. This long-standing anxiety makes him very skittish; if you put too much attention or expectation on Ardaka, he is liable to just run away.
