Can you tell me why Paraguay and Uraguay have very similar names? Were they one country? A war?

They are named after rivers they have, and those rivers’ names come from the same language.

Paraguay means “River of the Pajagua”. The pajagua are a tribe that had control over the river with their boats. Note that rivers here are a lot bigger than average.

Uruguay, meanwhile, means “River of the snails”, or something like that.

Most awkward moment you ever had?

When on of my friends told me they took a carrot to the butt…we staired at each other for a good minute before she busted out laughing…..I still don’t know to this day if she was telling me the truth or not.
