We are keeping much of the original magic for Hogwarts, with them mainly speaking Latin for the basis of the teaching there. This, even though they are located in Scotland, is mainly because of the former colonization of the UK by the Roman Empire, as well as the heavy basis for international magic across the EU as UK had remained apart of the EU until 2020.
Although, we are going to illustrate an increased use of wandless and wordless of magic, especially through the characters and indebted individuals that never receive a full Hogwarts education in the way other did, but still use a vast expanse of magic that shocks most individuals. Overtime, the kids in the war become more fluent in this form of magic as they are in the middle of a war, and the expectations to be ready for anything increase.
In fourth year, we see a new vast array of magic and systems never exposed to Hogwarts before through the tournament, illustrating that magic is directly influenced and built by the culture of the region. Different countries will be using their own language and culture as the basis for their magic, and those differences will become highly prevalent as we meet individuals of those different cultures.
We were also going to include ideas of household magic and spells, specifically through Ron and the Weasley's with their Irish heritage having a large number of household spells not taught at Hogwarts. They use Irish Gaelic for this type of magic, and are commonly practicing it in a way that makes Hermione question and try to learn more. Family magic is important and essential, and becomes a main thing around the Burrow where we get to see firsthand how magic is nothing like what is seen at Hogwarts in both how it is cast, what it does, how it feels, and how it shapes the home. Professor McGonagall will be another example of this, even though she is not teaching the students the spells she uses from her Scottish heritage, they are the ones she uses for most common tasks.
Furthermore, we are specifically incorporating the idea of sentient magic and Hogwarts, specifically through the incorporation of Pagan traditions and holidays where magic is a significant force. Magic becomes the main center of Wix every day lives, rather than the Christian centered view point JKR (ew) took. This, to us, made the most sense with some of the other incorporations of the Wix world, including obscurus and how magic was able to be turned against the individual.
Thank you SO MUCH for this ask, I am so sorry for the long reply but you see. We are nerds lmao.
