Hi! This is my first time making a coining post and it's for something pretty big & personal to me, so let's hope i do this justice! This post is broken into 4 parts — What Metamorphism is, the difference between it and Otherkinity, how it can present, and a (To Be Added) FAQ. Metahumanity will be in a seperate post due to its 18+ nature.
Just as a disclaimer ; These terms do not inherently indulge in plurality of any kind, and are made by an entity with endo-nuanced & anti-harassment views. We do request that endogenics & their supporters do NOT use this term. Though I cannot control who uses my terms, please remember this as a concept/identity is very personal to me, and I request this be respected. Questions are more than welcomed so long as they are respectful.
Now, let us get started... what even is Metamorphism?
Metamorphism is the concept of one being previously human, but now nonhuman to some degree after undergoing metamorphosis. This is coined with psychological identities in mind, as it is a metaphor-rooted identity, but may be experienced in any way. This transformation (or Metamorphosis) can be voluntary or involuntary. It is to be noted that this metamorphosis is metaphorical, as no physical changes take place.
Metamorphism may sound similar to Otherkinity, but has one crucial element -- you do not originate as nonhuman with metamorphism, as you might with Otherkinity, and it may not be as "strong" as an otherkin's identity may be. Metamorphs may not present as nonhuman all the time, and the identity may flucuate. Metamorphs are individuals that had undergone some form of metaphorical metamorphosis into a form more vulnerable, but true to them. Metamorphism is rooted in the freedom of expression and comfort in the vulnerable, even in intimate moments.
Metamorphs can be any species, whether that range from the mythological to the Earthen. Some metamorphs in my system, for example, range from angels & demons to dogs & birds. Metamorphs can also be any ratio of human-to-nonhuman, so long as the humanity is still somewhat retained. Some may present as entirely human with internalized nonhuman traits, others may present as partially nonhuman, externally nonhuman with internalized humanity, etc.
FAQ will be here!
