some of my favorite silver age plot devices
casually holding the entirety of humankind hostage (it takes up like 2 panels max)
Aliens watch earth's heroes like a mediocre if addicting soap opera and proceed to engage in unhinged fan behavior by playing with them as if they were dolls
Varies from meticulously planning a scenario that "encourages" the heroes to act just like in your fanfic to straight up mind control, ft the occasional "let's just do some shit and see what happens for funsies" wildcard
For Charity! (just all the charities)
subcategory: dead rich guy who came up with a very random and convoluted set of circumstances that need to be met in order to get the inheritance (which will be donated to charity of course)
