Well, hello there. The past few days have brought more balance on my end — a bit more sleep thanks to B, and I’ve been working in pumping in addition to breastfeeding which has helped with my sanity. I’m overly paranoid about SIDS, so I still wake all the time in a sweaty panic, but hopefully that will ease up eventually. During the days, I’m even squeezing a bit of crocheting in here and there while Pep naps. Oh, and I just finished Bridgerton this morning. Loved it.
B has been doing all the cooking (and laundry and cleaning) around here while I recover and it’s been amazing. He’s a good cook! I’ve been scarfing down my food before remembering to take a photo but he’s made some really good versions of chicken and dumplings, beef stew, tacos, turkey meatballs, and a few other things. My god, the beef stew was delicious. He bought me a Le Creuset for Christmas and it’s been awesome to cook with. I’ll have to take pics.
As far as my recovering from delivery goes, it’s been slow. Two weeks later, though, I finally feel like I’m getting there a little bit. TMI: going to the bathroom still sucks. But it sucks a little less. My face is breaking out like crazy and I’m still pretty sore, but Motrin seems to help.
I got news this week that my brother is moving out of my parents house, which is big news for him, and so I decided to try making a crochet cabled afghan as a housewarming gift. It’s a tricky one, but fun. Some moments I’m only getting in a few stitches before I need to jump up again, but I’ll get there. I also found some time to list a few things on etsy that I made just before giving birth. The etsy shop has been largely quiet, which is good now, because with Pep arriving I hardly have time for anything other than him.
Pep is still downright adorable.. no surprise there. 😁 I feel kinda guilty now with doing more bottle feeding that I’m not getting as much skin to skin contact with him, so I’m going to try and work on that today. More snuggles!
Looks like we’re in for a big snowstorm tonight through Tuesday, something like 16-20” total here, and we’re supposed to have doctor appointments for him both tomorrow (Monday) as well as Tuesday. The idea of driving in a blizzard with a newborn makes me nervous, so I’m kinda thinking the Monday appointment may get pushed back, if not by the doctors office, then by us. For now, we’re all stocked up on groceries and baby stuff and ready to get snowed in.
Posting selfies for the beautiful as ever @losingitinvirginia 💕 and passing along the selfie tag to a few other cuties, if you’re up for it: @momsgotwine @operationkay10 @abcd-adventures & @parenting-in-the-pnw 😊
