On dark days like this, please remember.

Your eating disorder has lied to you terribly.

You felt permanently powerless, weak, tired and empty. Numbness made a home inside you. You were freezing cold all day, with blue hands, shivering. You found it difficult to concentrate, connect and participate in life. You didn't have your period for two years. Instead, there built up bruises all over your body. You felt infinitely sad, absent and lonely. You isolated yourself for years because of fear and fog.

You fought your body in the worst possible way, depriving it of everything it needed. With a hatred darker than the blackest night.

Your eating disorder fooled you into thinking you had control. Being in control of your body gave you a false sense of relief when actually you were in need of control over your emotions, over your depression.

Your eating disorder was never your friend. It was never the most loyal companion you ever had. It was your worst enemy. Your place of destruction. You lost all joy, passion and love. You never felt worse than when you had this monster inside your head, that sucked life out of you.

Please promise me to never forget where you come from and to never ever fall for it's lies again.
