Day 787: this is much more ominous that it actually was, I just let symbolism run amok
Since I forgot to post yesterday, I’m posting twice for today. This is my favorite song of Björk. Well, one of them. Ever since I was introduced to her music, she is visually stunning, && her voice always hits the notes with such passion. This is a lovely track.
If you have not discovered her, please do so. She’s amazing. Her music videos are brilliant.
Fun fact: Per Wikipedia “Written by Sjón based on a story by Björk, the lyrics of "Isobel” tell the story of the title character, who is magically born in a forest and sends a message of instinct amongst the logic thinking of the people of the city. The story of Isobel has been explored in “Human Behaviour” and “Bachelorette”, forming a trilogy.“

I may be lonely but Maynard is always there for me. His solo project Puscifer is so dynamic and fluid, they can pump out a touching and powerful commentary about religion and humanity with this track, and on the next, joke about vaginas. As profound as Tool is, it would be foolish to sleep on Puscifer, and a lot of times, it scratches the right itch for me. I love this band, and respect just about everything Maynard does as a creator. Pretty inspiring.
So it’s been five years since I fell in love with One Direction.
Unsurprisingly I don’t have as many tangible moments to do with One Direction to talk about this year. There was no new album, there was no tour, there was way less to consume. I noticed this a lot when I was craving the security they have provided for me for the past five years. But there were still there, the community of people I’ve met because of them, they were still there. I guess that’s one of the great things of everything be preserved on the internet - they are still able to be there when I want them to be there.
I’ve missed them though. It was sad not seeing them this year for the first time in since 2013. When November rolled around and I was constantly on the edge of my seat waiting for the album to leak - I missed them. I’ve missed them a lot. At times I would even forget how much they’ve met to me - but then something would happen and I would be filled with that same love and excitement I’ve alway been filled with when it comes to me. They are a constant support for me.
The other night I was looking through posts from this day five years ago and I was talking about how I knew it was going to be bad. I had no idea. I really had no idea. Not only the level I would become infatuated with them but how they would save my life. I used to be scared to say they saved my life. But they did. If I hadn’t found them I have no idea where I would be. It’s a bit too scary to think about it.
Five years ago I was a very scared sad depressed person. Today I’m a sad and depressed but functioning person. One Direction has had a huge part in that. When I first got into One Direction - I was 21 and had just gone through the worst thing I hope to ever deal with. Now I’m 26 and just had the best year of my life since I was a teenager - since before I got this sick. I still love them. I still love them so much.
I will never be able to truly express how grateful I’m for One Direction and the community they introduced me to.
It’s been five years. And every year I’m a little bit better but I still rely on them in a way I can’t truly explain.
it’s been one hell of a ride.
