Why did Lemony and Jacques stay in the guest caravan of Caligari Carnival "so many years ago"? (TCC 117)

Readers of “All The Wrong Questions” knwo that Lemony and Jacques spent most of their younger years as V.F.D. apprentices, going on secretive missions to the weirdest places imaginable. The idea that they once went to Caligari Carnival isn’t really peculiar in the first place: it’s a pupolar site for family vacations.

Mostly it seems that Daniel Handler added this detail to reinforce the point that Lemony and the Baudelaire orphans share the same story and that the V.F.D. conspiracy extends everywhere.
