Acoustic album!
I am definitely biased as Crown the Empire is one of my favorite (if not my ultimate favorite) bands. Now, if you’re not into “the screaming shit”, you probably haven’t listened to them or don’t choose to and I would agree with you if it was seven years ago. That’s around the time I discovered my undying rage about everything around me. Truthfully, they’re the band that got me past it and one of those artists you just can’t turn off.
However, this album is entirely acoustic and it’s absolutely incredible. A compilation of songs from all of their albums, they take massive spins on songs that have iconic breakdowns and end up tugging at your heart with Andy Leo’s impressively sweet vocals. To choose a favorite would feel like a sin but my suggested picks are definitely Memories of a Broken Heart (which I have been waiting for an acoustic version of for forever), Johnny Ringo, and a surprising addition that I didn’t expect, Second Thoughts.
While I love the original versions, these are much easier to sing along to but this entire album is another example of a band that can master more than one genre or style. I never would’ve expected them to release an acoustic album but thank God they did.
