i'm here to talk about march 5th-7th!!
march 5th was a saturday ^-^ as sad as it is, i only remember what happened in the evening :") it was very much a nightlife kind of day. the morning was calm and chill but our night was wild!
Dami, T and i went out to study! we were planning on going to a café but decided on Gongcha. i had eftar there at 6:30pm by drinking a sweet corn popping smoothie! let me tell you, it was sweet corn flavoured, like straight up corn. but! it worked? like, it was kind of good. maybe not something i would order again, but in smoothie form, with tapioca and the popping chocolate candy, it really worked!
we then went out to find a place to eat and decided on chimaek (chicken and beer). the place was quite small and most of the dishes were spicey and around ₩15, 000 for one plate of chicken. however, between the three of us, 2 plates was too much. one would have been just fine!
the chimaek combination was really good and the flavours helped to balance each other out very well.
we then went to a nearby photobooth to take some photos together! there were 3 of us and we wanted 3 photostrips, but you could only get them as 2 or 4, so we got 4! it cost ₩10, 000. we went to a sanrio-themed one since both T and Dami love sanrio.
we also looked around some other stores in the area before heading home. actually, Dami dropped her phone in the street but we were able to find it! when we called her phone, someone picked up and met us near a mcdonald's to return the phone. that's how safe korea is!! however, he did try to make conversation and he was friendly but it did start making us a bit uncomfortable.
we headed home, picking up convenience store ice cream on the way and eating it at home. i must confess, i've eaten late night ice cream for maybe 5 days in a row now? it's become an unhealthy habit.
march 6th, i met with my korea university buddy!! she is a korea university student, born and raised in korea, who can help exchange students adjust to life abroad. we met near Anam station and went to eat lunch (i couldn't eat because i'm fasting) and it looked delicious. she told us it was spicey noodles--it came out in a pot that was placed on a working stove in front of us. the soup was red/orange and full of veggies. the meats and noodles were on the side. the meat was raw; you first start by adding that to the soup and eating it. then, you add the noodles. once you're done, you ask the owners to take back the pot and also the rice they brought you and fry the rice in a bit of the soup, forming bokkeum bap (fried rice). my buddy said that is her favourite part of the eating experience!
for some drinks, we went to waffle avenue. it was bustling with students, just as the lunch place was. some studying, some hanging out in groups. it was a nice atmosphere, though, and there were 2 floors.
i took bus 273 to get there (to anam station) and come back, and it took me only 20 mins or so. on my way back, i saw the moon!
i ate shin ramyeon and a fried mozarella stick + bell peppers for eftar and the shin ramyeon somehow tastes better here?? i ate it so fast! or maybe i was just that hungry that everything was good hehe. i bought everything from the ministop just down the street :D they have a big fried food collection!
yesterday (march 7th) Dami, T and i went to Hongdae in search of the sanrio café! before that, T and i went to a jewellry stop on the main road nearby (one day i will find out what the street is called! road names here confuse me a bit). T's earring fell out and she had just gotten that hole pierced, so she needed an earring for it! the poor storeowner didn't know english and of course our korean is broken, so as always, we had to somehow communicate using our hands and whatever language knowledge we had. but it always works out! also, it's super interesting to me that there are a lot of just jewellry accessory stores that are focused on earrings, and they always have a very wooden interior--wooden walls, floors, etc. you can find a lot of them here and it's mostly earrings along with a few necklaces and hair accessories. i guess a lot of people here get peircings?
in Hongdae, there was a stray kids ads! (theres always so many kpop ads in hongdae station--we also saw a Hyunjun one but it disappeared :c). seeing stray kids boosted my mood :D
we went straight to the cafe from the station and it was super cute! i bought some translucent green cinnamoroll chopsticks for ₩5, 000, which is pretty good! and since it's cinamoroll birthday month, there was a special drink at the café which i bought (shown in the center of the photo). honestly, it was just ice cream, chocolate milk and whipped cream but that's okay!!
we then went to eat at this place (청년다방, i think) and it. was. amazing. super good price for such amazing food and the perfect portion!!! it was such a nice seating area too, not too big nor small.
i also saw a 25 21 ad and got really excited cause Choi Hyunwook is on it :3 it was on a 7 eleven i think?
we also ate some candied fruit that they sell on the street (i dont know the name T.T) and we were sold 3 for ₩6, 000 (it was discounted but i'm not sure if thats a good price or not :O). it wa strawberries and let me tell you! korean strawberries taste AMAZING! no wonder they're so expensive T.T
