so instead of disappearing...ruby becomes a spirit similar to gardevoir. gengar goes into the "spirit world" or whatever he was on about to save them but since he can only be there for a limited amount of time he only has enough time to save riolu and cubone at ruby's request...

leaving her to become a spirit.
