#1 week project

I have begun ideation for this project by creating small animated illustrations on procreate to bring life to the shapes. this has made me think that I could design a typeset which transforms letters into shapes.

I like the rough and organic feel that the illustrations have to represent the shells which makes them feel more considered, reflecting the importance they have to me.

This is the final animation for the 1 week project.

It shows the letters/words of the tongue twister 'she sells sea shells on the seashore' transforming into shells. The tongue twister gives context as to why the letters transform to shells and the animation because it allows a visual transformation .

This is one of the final outcomes for my 1 week project. It has been done to show how the letters transform into shells.

I have chosen this illustration style because it adds character and movement to the letters/shells.

i have developed some of the shell illustrations into a looped animation to be displayed alongside other animations to display the typeface.

this is how i have decided to explore the subject matter in relation to my interest in typography.

this fits the brief because i have found a way to transform letters into different recognisable shapes. this could be developed further for more letters of the alphabet through a system where the shells are repeated but depending on how they are angled depends on which letter it represents, almost like a code.

i think i might display this through an animation of the tongue twister 'she sells seashells on the sea shore' because it represents the subject matter well and aids the relationship between words/letter and shells.
