Saw the 9.01.2020 Pokémon direct. Still glad I picked Grookey.

I think this is probably the best direction Pokémon can go in. It’s about time they break the whole, “Here’s the same game for the third installment of this generation, but with a few differences!” pattern they’ve had for over twenty years (aside from Black 2 and White 2).

I’m glad we get to keep the same Pokémon we had in the main adventure of Sword and Shield, not just because they’re our beloved partners, but because Pokémon can only get so strong. Eventually your Pokémon will just naturally reach level 100 as you battle with them, and since we’re expected to keep our already trained Pokémon in these expansions, I can only imagine all the trainers and Pokémon we will face in these new areas will be about equally strong. Eventually, we will require strategy beyond just type advantages and being massively over-leveled.

Tonight’s session was a good one. There was better concentration than the last 3 nights. That’s a big deal. There was surrender. It’s amazing that when concentration is achieved with calmness rather than strain, there is surrender. One has to find a way to surrender to the mental exercise in order to know it more intimately.

I shook away as usual. I am beginning to learn how to keep my attention surrendered to the Hong Sau even when my body is shaking involuntarily. Towards the end of today’s session, I genuinely felt that I would experience something new unless I stopped. I stopped out of the fear of uncertainty with what may be in store if I continued.
