I slept on the couch last night.

Once, in 2019, I did so for four months. We had three feral kittens in the house, with one feral mama cat. They were loose in the living room after acclimating in an animal pen for a couple of months, and after that spent their days under the couch, and were mostly active at night.

Fine, I thought. If that's how you want to play, you're going to have to do it with me in the room, even if I'm asleep.

I didn't meant to do so for four months, but ended up overhauling my bedroom and successfully socialising two of the four.

Every morning when I come down from the stairs the last few weeks, it's like Alba and Aurora have completely forgotten about me. Well, not completely, because we are making progress, but still. They don't see me for nine+ hours, and we've taken five steps back.

Fine, I thought. If that's how you want to play, you're going to have to do it with me in the room, even if I'm asleep.

I'm not planning on doing so for four months this time though.

Ezzideen Shehab (@bestfriendhelp): Ezzideen is a 28-year-old doctor. He has lost 72 family members, including 45 just in one day at the beginning of the war. His immediate family consists of him, his parents, and his siblings Abeer, Ghadeer, Hassan, and Mazen. Ghadeer is in Algeria right now, the rest of them are trapped in Gaza. They are trying to evacuate out of Gaza. Huda Yousef (@huda-yousef): Huda’s 17-year-old sister, 8-year-old nephew, and 19-year-old cousin were killed in a bombing that destroyed their house. Her sister suffers from suffers from chronic illnesses which have worsened due to the death of her child and a lack of medication. She is fundraising to try to evacuate herself and her surviving family members out of Gaza. Mahmoud Salah (@mahmoud-salah-gaza): Mahmoud and his wife Basma have a 1-year-old son and a 4-year-old daughter. An airstrike destroyed their home, and Mahmoud lost his eye, suffered severe injuries to his knee, and endured significant burns and disfigurement across his body due to the attack. He is in urgent need of medical treatment and surgeries. He has lost many family members, including his aunt and her children and husband.
