Thursday 10.10.13
Today was another drive day, probably one of the best ones. We were leaving Italy and heading into Austria on the Brenner pass. Seeing as it was such a beautiful drive through the alps I sat in the middle of the aisle up the front of the bus. I didn't want to sleep, even though I felt terrible.
We left Venice super early because we were only spending one night in Kirchdorf and had to make the most of our time. Skydiving had been cancelled again because there was a storm rolling in. The people going canyoning had to stick it out though, poor people.
After a really great drive - I got some videos - we rolled into Kirchdorf around 2, the people going canyoning literally put their bags in the room, quickly changed and left again. The place we were staying in was amazing, exactly the type of house I want to live in in a year or two. Its one of those big Bavarian style places, with about 5 levels and rooms all over the place, like a rabbit warren. It was stunning. I very easily could have missed the bus and stayed there the rest of my life.
The rest of us, that were not insane like the people standing out in a storm jumping down waterfalls, went into town. Its not a very big town by all means, kind of spread out. Sarah, Sam, Beck, Ashleigh and I all found a cute little bakery and had a coffee/cake/girly session which was actually really nice. They all got to gossip, while I listened. Apparently not many people were getting along on with the tour leader anymore. I was completely oblivious to be completely honest, I had no problem with a single person on the bus. I'm sure other people were annoyed by me, but I wasn't going to let that ruin my holiday.
Once we'd outstayed our welcome in this bakery, they called us a taxi and we went back to the house. They had cooked us a really nice BBQ dinner, not an Australian BBQ like I was familiar with but an Austrian one. Still amazing though. Almost better because the storm that had come over was bringing snow with it apparently! Even if it didn't snow, Austria was already one of my favourite places. South Germany, Switzerland and Austria, I could live in any one these places and be super happy.
After dinner we had our scribble party, basically us just writing on each others t-shirts. Which sounds a lot less fun than it was. Everyone had really nice things to say about everyone, or just quoting things from the trip.
A few of my favourites 'To red wine sarah, you have scarily amazing eyes, love (boy) Ashley x' 'You're my favourite drunk person to pick up off the floor - Josh' 'Queen of the quiet ones, work it like Topdeck ALWAYS - Dee' 'How'd you get to be so good at things ;) - Scotty' 'Can you stand mousette its only 7pm' 'Muse under the swiss stars love Chris'
Trying to read my shirt just then was a complete mission And I hope someone reads this and appreciates how much that hurt my eyes. It also made me really miss my Topdeck buddies. Aw.
So after more alcohol and laughs, I secretly made my way to bed. I was so tired. One final mission before bed was getting into the top bunk with no ladder and a body full of alcohol.
Let me just say that it probably should have been a lot easier than it was.
Austria, let me love you. Please!
Time to go see Chris <3
