Sad.
She's annoyed with me. When I ask her she says it's college apps, "stupid clubs" and people but I know it's more than that. After all I'm her best friend. The only thing I can do is keep my distance but let her know that I'm still here no matter what...
my bf has jonghyun's teeth especially the bottom ones like the pointy ones on the side are really sharp guH
Today we started with the preposition cards, and then moved onto phrase cards. I know I said yesterday that my plan was to do the preposition cards at the beginning of the session, and then again at the end to see if he would improve after practicing another set of cards, but he had so much difficulty with them at the beginning that we spent a lot of time on them, and I wanted to make sure to leave enough time to practice something else as well.
I had to go back and look just now, and the last time we practiced the phrase cards was a week ago. When we first started, he was having difficulty with a fairly simple card ("he is shaving", which he couldn't even start off, he had no idea what the word was), so I was really worried that it had been too long since we'd practiced these and that he had forgotten what he'd learned before. But then as we got further into the cards, he got significantly better and even surprised me a few times. He was able to easily get "He is swimming" which he usually has a bit of trouble with. And he was able to get a lot of the other cards with little to no prompting from me.
I was most impressed though, at a picture of a girl playing a violin, he tried to say "She is doing(?) the violin" I can't remember exactly what verb he tried to use. It was the wrong one, but I was incredibly impressed that he was even able to figure to put an -ing verb there. He usually gets stuck on these types of phrases, and will say things like "she is violin" So even though he got the verb wrong, I was just really impressed that he still knew how to construct that sentence.
I was really concerned about how these phrase cards were going to go today, but he really impressed me! It's good to know that he hasn't lost memory of how to say the phrases for these cards or how to construct the sentences even though we haven't practiced them for a week.
It can be difficult to figure out which cards to use on which days, because I want to make sure to give him a variety of different kinds of practice on any given day and across days in a week. When we first started, I was really worrying that I was giving him too much variety that he was forgetting some of the older things when we tried newer things. But he proved to me that that was not the case! I still think I should probably try to up the number of times we practice any cards that involve sentences (like the phrase cards, occupation cards, and color cards I've been talking about getting together for the past week or so) because I feel like being able to build sentences or at least stringing together a few words to make phrases is one of the most important things in him being able to communicate with other people who aren't so close to him that they can just read his gestures and eventually guess at what he's trying to say.
