Stranger #052/100 - Celia da Reinhard Burkl Tramite Flickr: Stranger #052/100 - Celia [Kandidat 1a] *** This picture is #052 in my 100 strangers project. Find out more about the project and see pictures taken by other photographers at the 100 Strangers Flickr Group page *** I met Celia at the busker festival in Landshut, where she was working in the tent of "Bradbury's" at the bar. With her long red hair and very dark eyes she made me curious about her origin. This capture was taken outside with the black foil of the side wall as a background which gives a strong contrast to her red hair and enhances the impression of this portrait. *** [CF_2017-09-17_173102(7D)_EditCPP(Ausschnitt3x4_3000x4000_K0_FS1_S-2_Sch4)_ji(KL0.2_Sch20%Gl0.1Tw7).jpg]
Stranger 91/100 'George' by Leanne Boulton Via Flickr: © Leanne Boulton, All Rights Reserved Posed 'stranger' portrait taken for my 100 Strangers project in Glasgow, Scotland. This picture is #91 in my 100 strangers project. Find out more about the project and see pictures taken by other photographers at the 100 Strangers Flickr Group page My 100 Stranger project has been pretty much on hold for a few years now. First there was Covid, then my PTSD became much more severe and then I was without my computer for 5 months after being made homeless. Needless to say that my confidence had taken quite a hit during that time. I had restarted my candid street photography, and my confidence was rapidly rebuilding, but I was still unable to do stranger portraits until I had my computer back out of storage so that I could edit and send the photos to the strangers. I first captured a candid of George here and he was clearly flattered and we stopped for a brief chat. George told me he was a street photographer too, sharing his work mostly on Facebook, and I asked him if he would like a portrait. I was a little rushed and flustered in dealing with the brief shoot due to the hiatus and knock to my confidence but George was a calm and collected man that helped to ease the whole process. I quickly assessed the location to find a spot to shoot and saw a sliver of sunlight reflected onto the darker side of the street that would help to make his striking white beard stand out. I directed George into position and after he posed a few shots looking off camera, I asked him to look straight down the lens and captured this shot. Shooting from slightly downhill helped the perspective of giving George a strong presence in the shot. Captured with natural light only and edited in Lightroom. I have shared the image with George and he was pleased that I had made an "old man look handsome and elegant." It was a pleasant and calming reintroduction to my 100 Stranger project where I was getting close to the target as circumstances worked against me. You can see others in the series by clicking on my '100 Strangers' album. Enjoy.

Stuart por Leanne Boulton Por Flickr: © Leanne Boulton, All Rights Reserved Posed street portrait taken for my 100 Strangers project in Glasgow, Scotland. Stuart, a familiar face and inspirational man in Glasgow, and number 72 in my 100 Strangers project here on Flickr. This is the colour version of the original shot that I uploaded from my brief city centre shoot with Stuart. Head to my 100 Strangers album to read his story if you like. Proving that the affordable 40mm pancake lens can be good for portraits. Enjoy!
Cowboy 13/100 by ndeliso Via Flickr: Justin had an ad on Craigslist looking for a photographer to shoot a few casual shots for a marketing piece. We met at a local farm and took pictures out in the snow and in the barn. He was terrific as a model but his real passion is riding bulls every weekend that he can to make it in the "circuit." His southern accent reminded me of home (Mississippi) and his demeanor was every bit the gentleman cowboy. In fact, he had just ridden in a huge rodeo in my hometown the weekend before.
