HOW I CAME ABOUT THIS PROJECT
I didn't. My boyfriend suggested it by the end of last year. He spends so much time on the Internet so that he has all the right (and not so right) information about anything. He found out about people who do 100-day projects as a kind of personal challenge. He thought I could do something like that and suggested taking a photo each day as some people did. I was intrigued by this idea but had to find my own thing… So I came up with the idea to combine photography and poetry; each day I will take a photo and write a poem inspired by the photo of the day.
I was supposed to start this at the beginning of the year but our dog fell sick and I completely forgot about the project. I remembered it almost two months later while walking with my dog. I took the first photo and wrote the first poem; actually that day I made two of each. And this is how it started.
I'm educated in art but for the last ten years I'm employed in the administrative sector of a big financial company. It's a dull and non-innovative job and very stressful at the same time. It takes a huge part of my life. Slowly I have stopped making art and this makes me unhappy. A 100-day challenge would make me commit to creating a bit of art each day.
Each day for 100 days I will make a photo and then write a (short) poem inspired by the photo. So first a photo, then a poem. The topic is irrelevant.
A photo can be made by a camera or a mobile phone, it can be digitally manipulated, more photos can be combined into one…
The poem can be short or long and can be made in any language I know. The only rule is: it has to be inspired by the photo of the day.
The technical or artistic quality is irrelevant. The only rule is: It has to be done each day and it has to make sense.
Assure continuity by managing to find time to do a bit of art each day for 100 days, develop the capability to find and recognize motives in everyday context and limited environment, test my own capacity of innovation, improve photographic and poetic expression, develop personal confidence by managing to see this project through to completion.
Remember to do his every day.
