Wei Wuxian - Red spider lily (Lycoris radiata), also known as red magic lily, resurrection lily or equinox flower. Since these scarlet flowers usually bloom near cemeteries around the autumnal equinox, they are described in Chinese and Japanese translations of the Lotus Sutra as ominous flowers that grow in Hell, (Chinese: 黃泉), and guide the dead into the next reincarnation. Some legends have it that when you see someone that you may never meet again, these flowers, also called red spider lilies or corpse flowers, would bloom along the path.
Lan Wangji - Gentian (Gentiana sino-ornata, Gentiana macrophylla, Gentiana tianshanica, for example). Gentians have a reputation for being difficult to grow. They mostly represent justice and victory, but also feeling compassion for another's sorrow and loving in sadness. Gentians also symbolise passion, charm, loveliness and sweetness. "It wasn’t that there were no flowers, but that the flowers were mostly pure, elegant varieties like magnolia, gardenia, and white chrysanthemum, and even then only as rare, decorative glimpses. Yet, the area before this house was filled with purple gentians. The buds were small while the color was brilliant, gaining the love of whoever passed. Under the light, they seemed to glow softly, as beautiful as a dream, an illusion." -MDZS Ch 63 Tenderness -part 1.
